4/10
I would have greatly enjoyed this episode but unfortunately, simultaneous TLK from Regina and Emma wasn’t used to break the curse, and instead there was a convoluted backstory and present day plot involving a never-before-mentioned pixie flower, which apparently Snowing used then season 2 or 3 ish when Emma complained about being on her own for 28 years, Snowing failed to tell her to reassure her? Really?
And how on Earth or in any realm is Emma (or any of them for that matter) supposed to fight the Black Fairy while drunk on curse juice?
Said this already before but…a potion that removes blackness in someone’s heart, and therefore the whole premise of the show (Regina’s black heart leading to her casting the curse etc).
And yeah Captain Swan, don’t bring Tiger Lily through the door with you, just shut it in her face lol selfish pair.
What a mess.
Must say though, it was great to see Evil! Regina again in SB. It show-cased how well Lana has pulled off Regina’s development over the past 6 years. The body language, facial expressions and pitch and tone of her voice were all very different.
The Black Fairy is suitably creepy for a fairy tale character too, so hats off to her.
And the

April 17, 2017 at 1:46 am #336288SkylerParticipantWow that was so bad 4/10.
Liked:
– The black fairy, she’s evil, she’s twisted and she’s supposedly gonna bring it down to all of you Storybrooke suckers. I like her so far. I just wish they could give her more screen time to develop her story instead of wasting it so much on unnecessary useless shit. Did they really have to bring Neverland back? They should have sent them to Boston or something instead.
– Regina’s flashback scenes. Loved her lines and it was good to see her old self back. I’m still secretly wishing Regina is gonna snap in one of these episodes and say “Booya guys I’m still the evil queen” and go back to being evil.
-Gideon/Black Fairy/Rumple dynamic. Seems promising, good chemistry between the actors.
Mixed:
– Tiger Lily… I dont know… she felt like she was too conveniently placed in the story. I would rather have Blue taking that screen time, she’s more significant to the storyline than wtv they can make of Tiger Lily in 4 episodes.
– So what exactly happened to Black Beard? Oh yeah nobody cares, leave him to raise the lost boys with Tiger Lily I guess. After all didn’t Snow said back in S3 that all they wanted was a family and all?
Disliked:
– Did Emma raid Blue’s closet or the convent? Cause she seemed like she stole one of the nuns outfits. It’s just not an “Emma”outfit ahhhhhh.
– Are these episodes even making it through the editing room? Is there anyone even directing these scenes? I felt like the scenes had no sequence whatsover, everything was so messy and all over the place.
– True Love’s touch? Really? Now we have that…. All it took to break Snow’s curse was for Charming to touch her with true love touch… hmm OK whatever.
– Snow/Charming flashback. I was totally lost on what was going on after the flashback began. I had to rewind it cause I thought I skipped something, only to find that nope, that was the real thing. Bad bad writing.
– The flower that reunites true loves, magical portal door, c’mon…
– Emma/Hook. Jeez please, just stop wasting so much time with these two already! Not buying it!
– Jennifer Morrison acting is not in the same league as Robert Carlyle, Lana Parilla, Ginnifer Goodwin, Rebecca Madder and Jaime Murray’s. You cannot have excellent actors and actresses in a show and not use them. Man that is a freaking crime! lol
Argh…. I was seriously hoping this episode was gonna be so much better than last week’s…. I’m totally lowering my expectations of next week’s one.
April 17, 2017 at 3:35 am #336296ry4christParticipantI actually liked this episode fairly well. My standards have definitely lowered as the seasons have gone by, and I’ve started judging the episodes more on their inherent enjoyability and at least trying to not let plot holes ruin it for me when I can. I’d give it a 7/10.
Liked:
– Getting another flashback to cursed Storybrooke – I always enjoy those. It was great to see Lana step into that character again too.
– Snow and Charming’s choice to let Emma fulfill her destiny – it was in character for them and in my mind was selfless even if it was a big retcon.
– The 3 storylines of Flashback, Neverland, and Present Day were interwoven nicely and the right amount of time was given to each.
– I’m continuing to enjoy Jamie Murray’s acting as the Black Fairy and I can’t wait to see her backstory in 6×19.
Mixed:
– Hook cutting off his shadow to get home. I liked the continuity from Season 3 but all he needed to do it was magic tree sap? But Regina and company couldn’t have done that in 3×08 to get past Pan’s barrier against those with shadows, rather than covering up the moon? Maybe they didn’t know about it, but still…
– I liked meeting Tiger Lily and finding out she used to be a fairy. Didn’t expect that! Would have been nice to hear an explanation of why the Nevengers didn’t see her in Season 3 since she had to have been there.
– I appreciated Snow putting Emma before herself regarding the use of the pixie flowers, but as others have stated, she never seems to acknowledge baby Neal. Also, maybe consult Charming, the only person affected by this drastic decision? Also, the show used to put such a high value on the parent-child relationship and Emma agrees to save Hook instead of her parents so quickly.
– How the sleeping curse was broken – it was emotionally impactful and a “cool” way to do it, but it bothers me they never even tried TLK from Emma, Henry, or Regina when that was once such a powerful thing in the show
Disliked:
– The pixie flower – It somehow exists in a Land Without Magic, and it’s never appeared or been looked for before to solve any problems in seasons 1-5. Snow and Charming could have also mentioned it’s power to reunite loved ones as soon as they went under the Sleeping Curse and as soon as Hook went missing a few episodes ago. These flowers should be remembered and protected by some kind of magic.
– NO MORE FORGETTING POTIONS
April 17, 2017 at 3:45 am #336299GaultheriaParticipantDo we think the writers have lost their DVDs of Season 1?
Ah, but Season One never happened now. We’ve been watching the Close Enough Timeline since the end of Season Three.
Tiger Lily used to be a fairy?
In hindsight, I think this makes sense, the importance of flowers to fairies being another of this episode’s callbacks to the Neverland arc.

I liked:
Thirteen people drank from the same cup. There’s elegant Easter symbolism. (The part about a parent letting go of a child for the good of the world — well, it could have been elegant, too, if the show hadn’t been heavyhandedly labelling Emma as savior all season long.)
I disliked:
Henry is underage, yet the authority figures in his life permit him — perhaps even encourage him — to take part in a risky experimental magical medical procedure. Sure, he does it to protect his family, but how is that any different from a child wanting to join the army during wartime? We don’t let kids take risks like that, even to help people.
Edited to add:
Okay, I have to admit that I liked this episode’s title card, because the door in the woods looked like an outhouse filled with swirling, noxious fumes.

April 17, 2017 at 4:02 am #336300nonnieParticipantI thought TIGER LILY ran in a different direction when HOOK & EMMA went through the door. I was under the impression she had her own agenda … maybe she wanted to go back to her people…………. Why would she want to go thru a door where she knows / has said their was a great evil and a war was going to begin?

Yeah, that’s what it looked like to me, too.

Neverland is Tiger Lily’s self-imposed penance for failing in her duties, so I can believe that she wouldn’t want to leave if she hasn’t yet worked past her shame. Besides, she cares about the Lost Boys — she knows how messed up they are, and she apparently doesn’t kill them during the ambush — and that kind of puts her in the role of savior-by-default for the island.

April 17, 2017 at 3:21 pm #336340The Swan PrincessParticipantHey people! It has been a while since I last posted!
Wow so that was a strong last season vibe
Favorites:
1) OMG someone finally thought about the peasents!!! It’s about time.
2) I loved the flashback, even though it was a little bit retcon-y (LOL at Snow and Charming telling Emma there is some secret they just now remembered to tell her for the 1000th time…) it was sweet and it didn’t interfere with what happened in season one so it’s fine with me. And it gave me so many season one feels! Especially Snow’s face when she told Charming they need to drink the potion, she had exactly the same facial expression she had in the pilot when she told Charming to take Emma to the wardrobe because Emma will save them.
Mixed:
1) I keep wondering about the final battle thing, is it A&E’s plan from the beginning or something influenced by the audience? I want to believe it is and that they have a vision about how to finish everything and tie all the loose ends but I’m worried they just wanted to finally give us the Black Fairy after people were asking about her for 2 years and that the final battle will be a disappoint…
2) Tiger Lily… They did her right personality wise. They didn’t mention anything about the rest of her tribe which I guess is the best thing they could have done about that issue, just avoid the problem, but the fairy backstory was really stupid.
Least Favorites:
1) Oh hello there magical flower that no one has heard about before.
2) It feels like Emma hasn’t done anything important in a while.
You know what I can't continue with the dead people brought back to life list I'm out of space in the signature and now we have an underworld arc this is to much I quit why do you bring so many people back to life OUAT WHHHYYYY

I have no idea why this never occurred to me before but a light just went on in my brain. This makes all the crap retcons make so much more sense!
