Let me just be honest…I catch OUAT a day later now for some reason….but hey, it is what it is.
Rating: 6/10
Liked:
RegalBeliever….always and forever, the most important thing to me.
At least Colin looks to be enjoying the opportunity to not just play a love interest.
Andrew West is knocking the Henry Mills role outta the park!
Weaver is definetly interesting.
Henry helping Jacinda, and trying to mend his mistake.
JMo is free!
Mixed:
So Wish Realm Hook has a daughter….how and more importantly, why?!!!!
Regina, sweetie…your son left at 18 and came back 30-35….it was OOC for her to be that unphased!
As a matter of fact, how old is everyone?!!!! Henry hadn’t seen his family in like ten years, so he’s around 28….he had Lucy, whose 10…so Henry’s 38?!! If Henry’s 38…that makes Emma 56…how the hell is she pregnant?! And how is it still 2017?!! I just…I cannot with this timeline!
Disliked:
Not enough Tiana and not enough Alice!
So Wish Realm Hook has a “past” with Lady Tremaine…..
Emma, girl…you, that wig, and whatever curtain call this was…bye.
Adam & Eddy…don’t pull no s— and have Fake Hook be Regina’s love interest! Cause I swear…

October 14, 2017 at 7:25 pm #343316StahlopParticipantThis is so strange to me, because while I get that Wish Realm Hook’s memories are the same up until that point, none of that actually happened to him because he didn’t exist until The wish was made creating the realm and it’s inhabitants.
Yeah this is the big conundrum with the Wish Realm and how/when it was established. And actually those themes–what makes reality, our experiences or our memories even if those memories are false–would be seriously interesting to explore. Westworld is a prime example of how fantasy/scifi does that sort of naval gazing well. But OUAT is more like a bull in a china shop when it comes to compelling think pieces.
I’m thinking that once the Wish Realm was created it now a valid alternate realm that was basically wishes into existence. Otherwise Robin and the Evil Queen would not have been able to go there. Robin would have failed to exist and the Evil Queen would have been taken somewhere else. The Wish Realm is now another real place that was brought about by a wish and all the people in it are now real with real memories as well.

I agree it’s definitely real and a valid place. It’s interesting you mention when the realm was established, RG. We assumed and maybe A&E even confirmed the realm was created by the Evil Queen’s wish, but what if it wasn’t? What if that world already existed prior to the wish and our Emma just took the Wish Realm Emma’s place? Maybe there are multiple realms where Regina didn’t cast the curse, Rumple didn’t let Bae go through the portal, Snowing never met, etc. If Wish Realm has always existed, then Wish Realm Hook would actually have lived out his whole life and not just have memories of what he didn’t actually do. It may be a retcon, but with A&E really embracing the alternate realms with different Cinderellas, Alices, etc, I wouldn’t put it past them at all.

.I do not think the realms have time passing at the same time frame as the real world. It took 6 years the first time round and Baby Neal aged just a couple of years… ( he looked like a 2-3 year old in the finale) The only reason they aged HENRY in the beginning of epi 1 is they could not hide it any more with iffy time frame.
ONCE plays fast and loose with time frames and we might as well accept it … cause it is not going to change.

October 15, 2017 at 1:20 pm #343348StahlopParticipantSomething I just thought of: why doesn’t Henry recognize Rogers as looking exactly like Captain Hook from his book. There is definitely at least one picture of him in there (the Last Supper scene which we saw Lucy looking at the end of last season).
October 17, 2017 at 2:23 pm #343426PanTheManParticipantOverall, I’m in a generous mood, so 6.5/10. Last week was a 6/10 for me.
Liked:
– Most of all, I liked our new Dream Team – Henry, Hook, and Regina. The sole purpose of the episode was to unite these characters in the past. Up until they were united, I kept thinking the episode was a bit convoluted.
– Henry. I’m liking this older version of Henry more and more. In this episode, I thought I could see traces of young Henry coming through in his performance. (perhaps that just wishful thinking on my part)
Disliked:
– Emma. It’s hurts me to say this bc i love Emma’s character so much. I even felt that J-Mo was out of sorts delivering some of her lines in this episode, as if she didn’t quite agree with what was written for her character.
– Lady Tremaine. I have a feeling I might eat these words eventually, but she’s the weakest villain i’ve seen yet on Once. I really hope i end up eating those words.
– Rumple. The story i’m seeing for Rumple doesn’t really show any of the character’s growth. Of course, it can be argued that the character had little to no growth in the first 6 seasons, always making the same mistakes, but making him a crooked cop… sigh… I don’t know. It just sort of feels like after moving his family to Canada, the wonderfully talented Robert Carlyle couldn’t quit the show as easily as the rest of the original cast. Whether or not Once has a future after this season, I don’t see Bobby going much further.
– Jacinda. I don’t know what it is. I actually like the actress as Cinderella, but i’m hating her as Jacinda. Maybe that’s the point. Her accent didn’t bother me in the first episode, but it seemed more forced in this episode. Also, is it just me, or does she cry too much?
– Ballet Recital. Okay, I don’t want to judge the work of young actresses, but all the editing in the world couldn’t save that ballet recital. I’d be less critical if i thought we might see lucy doing ballet in a future episode, but i got the impression it was just for this episode. Ballet will never be mentioned again. Also, the whole conflict around the ballet seemed forced. But really! Who would’ve paid $500 dollars to sit through that? If that’s the best Lady Tremaine can do, she really is the weakest villain yet.

to be fair, the people in storybrooke never cared there were pictures of them in Henry’s book. Maybe the curse makes them incapable of recognizing the illustrations with the real world people

I am here still bc Regina is actually Regina on the show in Hyperion Heights and her story “is not over yet.” She is the only one I care about still so I will watch to see how the end of her journey plays out.
Sidenote: Dania Ramirez may be the worst actress I have ever seen.

Ha ha I knew we saw eye to eye. Not on the Regina cause nah, but just what a mess this is.
Dania is a horrible actress, and she has ZERO chemistry with Andrew. This romance they’re trying to sell as this epic thing, is epically failing. Literally no one in the audience from what I’ve seen gives two craps about Henry/Cinderella romance, and yes most everyone is in agreement that they cast the wrong girl for Cinderella. She’s so so bad. Her accent, her mispronunciation of words, her facial expressions. Just everything is so bad.
Snowing and Captain Swan had me within their first episode. So how is it possible that Adam and Eddy failed so bad in casting these two as a couple? It’s just awful.

The pictures in Henry’s book didn’t have faces. Snow and Charming never had faces in there. I think that’s why Henry had trouble deciphering who everyone was. We have clearly seen the last supper picture in the book and Rogers and Henry had a very specific conversation about Emma’s picture, so it just seems odd.
