Also, now that Regina is awake, what is their explanation for why she wouldn’t just call Emma, Snow, and Charming?
Maybe she can’t while Hyperion Heights is still cursed?

i think the answer is more , the writers forgot about that part?

In the EF2 flashbacks this episode, Regina was dealing with the pain of no longer feeling that Henry needed her. In the time between the EF2 and HH scenes, Henry got married, settled down, and started a family — and all of that could have reinforced Regina’s perception that he wasn’t her little boy anymore.
Getting her memory back in Hyperion Heights may be the first time in many years that Regina feels that Henry needs her. Before she calls for help, she’s going to try to be that help.

She stated that she did not want to be set up with the Prince, so she either had no feelings, or antagonist feelings, for him already. Even putting that aside: her goal is to psychological torture her mother over a long period of time, so killing her mother quickly is already out. While killing the Prince does thwart her mom to get closer to the centre of the Kingdom’s power, its will sooner or later be in the rear view mirror. While I wouldn’t say one ever gets over one daughter killing another 😉 even if they were willing to kill that daughter to save the other 😉 … Drizella killing Anastasia, even if she did not have any sisterly feelings left for Ana, doesn’t satisfy her urge to continually torment her mother with her torture regiment. Which presumably includes leaving Anastasia’s resurrection just out of reach for, oh, about a decade or so 😉

Dislike – Jacinda and Lucy. Still not feeling them.
Intrigued – I wonder what Ivy did to lock Regina into the curse? I assume it must involve Henry or possibly Lucy getting hurt if the curse is broken.
November 11, 2017 at 8:57 pm #344404hjbauParticipantWell, if the family is in danger, especially life and death danger, and Emma can help, then Regina should call her. There should be another reason why they don’t call her then just Regina being stupid. That is not something that new, rewritten, Regina, post Season 3, would do. In my opinion.
I think it is possible that the writers are just not going to think about Emma and the rest of the family again, though it is possible that something happened with the storybook and that that has meaning. Though, it may mean nothing as well.

Loved this episode….just….loved it! It’s a tie between this episode and Rumple’s Centric on my faves for this season, but this episode was beautiful!
Liked:
“You’re the first person who loved me…”/”I’m your mother first.” THIS!!! This, this, this, and this! This is why I’m sticking with this show….like, I said it then and I’ll say it now. Emma may have given birth to Henry, and came into his life and loved him…..but Regina is his mother.

Andrew J West really showed us why he’s the best person to take over Henry after Jared….the similarities are just….wow! And the scenes he did with Lana were the realest RegalBeliever Scenes of this season! Really great job!
Someone hand Lana a freaking Emmy please because this woman has just given a master class in acting! Aside from not really giving her, a proper happy ending, Adam & Eddy make sure that Regina is one of the greatest character developments ever done in OUAT, and Lana delivers it perfectly!
Drizella and Regina….I loved this so much because I had flashbacks of Rumple teaching Young Regina….and I’m sorry but, I’m thinking of jumping on board the idea that Drizella may in fact be Regina’s daughter somehow. I don’t know how they’ll pull it off, but that theory’s stuck in my head now…..thank you twitter Evil Regals for that.
Props to Ms. Kane because she’s truly making me enjoy her character and her arc! I like the twist that she’s the main threat, and that her mother was just a red herring! However I’m feeling like this could be setting up a tragic, bittersweet end for her character….something I really don’t want.
Rumple reuniting with Regina….I love that they’re back on track with the Master and Student relationship! That gave me some real Season 2 Feels! Not to mention the Queen was slaying from head to toe in that outfit!
Henry defending himself with his prized lunch box! Why did that seem like such a Neal thing to do? (dabs eyes)
Alice is adorable and I’m really feeling this partners in crime thing she’s got going with Killian.
Regina’s awake!!! The Queen is back!!!!
Mixed:
Rumple, I know you wouldn’t be you without deals….but as much as Regina has done for you….you could’ve at least let this favor be on the house.
Disliked:
Soooo….I’m just supposed to believe Drizella became a master at magic after one lesson with Regina. Even Zelena was a prodigy with magic, and needed more than one lesson with Rumple.

i considered there is a chance something went down between Rump and Regina in the enchanted forest and that might be why he was kinda shady to her. He might know what she and Drizella did.
Also, I’m guessing Drizella can be explained by her having been born with magic and being fueled by raw emotion for her mother at that moment, which we know is necessary to use magic. I don’t think she’s very powerful but Regina taught her the basics and that is all she needed probably

Hi everyone! I’m new to the podcast and the forum, but I’m so excited to have found it! I know opinions are very mixed about the new season, but personally, I’m loving it! I like how the podcast references seasons 1-6 as “Once Proper”. I consider that to be its own thing, and Season 7 to be something entirely new, though happily related to the original that I loved. Therefore, I don’t see any opportunity for Season 7 to “damage” or detract from what came before. It was either the show was cancelled and we got nothing more, or we get a chance to try something new, and you like it or you don’t.
What I personally like, is the return to the emphasis on the mystery. I’ve seen comments that the first few episodes have felt really disorganized or confusing, but it reminds me so much of both Season 1 and Season 5a (Dark Swan). We come in in the middle or even end of the story, and spend the season piecing together how we got there. I love that! I strongly suspect that so much of what may have come off as disorganized now will eventually be revealed to have been heavily planned and intentional pacing of clues and revelations. Only time will tell…
All that being said, this was by far my favorite episode of the season so far. Lana Parrilla has taken it to a whole new level! I was pretty sure that Lady Tremaine wasn’t going to have cast the curse, because it seemed too obvious from the beginning. I suspected the “good guys” may have done it, even though we saw that in 3b. This was a nice twist, though, a somewhat unsuspected villain, combined with some underlying driver for Regina/the good guys to not break the curse. Seeing how that internal conflict plays out should be really fun! I am confused because it appears that Adelaine Kane is a guest star, not a regular, even though she’s appeared pretty heavily in every episode so far, I think. Makes me wonder if the curse might get broken (or maybe changed somehow) earlier that we’d expect, so the emphasis can shift to someone else. If that does happen, I’m hoping there’s a big twist with Hook’s daughter (i.e. she’s a new character rather than an existing fairytale character) and she becomes a main player. I’m curious to see how Zelena & Robin fit in as well! Sounds like a lot of new/returning characters coming soon, so the layout of the whole thing may not be what it looks like now.
Anyway, lots to think about and ponder – and again, that is and always has been my favorite aspect of this show. My favorite scene was Regina’s awakening – masterfully played, good twists, but left more new questions than it answered. My least favorite was probably the scene where Drizella killed the prince. The blackening her heart so her mother couldn’t use it concept isn’t a bad one, but I think they could have done a little more with that plot point. I also hated to see Julian Haig discarded so quickly.
I’m really looking forward to next week (two episodes – yay!) They’ve been peppering along with the Wish!Hook/Daughter/Missing Girl storyline for a while now. I’m excited to start to see where that’s going to go.
Thanks all!

Yeah I’m puzzled by this too. I’m afraid she’s not a series regular because they’re going to kill her off soon. But Jamie Dornan was a regular until Graham’s death in 1×07. So I’m thinking she’s been guest starring so far was so we wouldn’t expect her to be the curse caster and such a big player. Plus it seems there’s a lot more pieces to fill in in flashbacks involving her, so I’m optimistic she’s sticking around and may get promoted to a series regular.
