What were some of your favorite and least favorite moments from this week’s episode “Knightfall”?
[adrotate group="5"]"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 16, 2018 at 9:27 pm #345971AKAParticipantThis episode was entertaining, I would give it a 7/10
Liked:
Alice: I have no idea why I find her so entertaining but I absolutely love her character and the actress is doing an outstanding job of giving us a Rumplestiltskinish character in modern HH. I feel the same way about her as I do when Rumple gives a long speech to someone. I want to yell “LISTEN she is saying something important”.
Henry and Ivy: I thought the scene between them was very sweet. Too bad Henry and Jacinda are end game, because I could have really gotten behind a Henvy ship.
Gothel is very manipulative and menacing, when she was waving at Alice I was actually creeped out.
Ivy and Jacinda: OUAT does well needed hugs very well and I like them a lot. Ivy totally needed a hug and Jacinda was a good choice.
Alice and Nook in modern day are angsty but I am actually rooting for this daddy/daughter combo.
Mixed/Dislike:
Wish Realm Rumple: Okay how in the world can Nook travel from Enchanted Forrest 2 to the Wish Realm? So if the Wish Realm is part of this universe then there are two Rumples hanging around, Two Henry’s hanging around, Two Evil Queen’s and a Robin Hood, not to mention that at this time there is also a Snow, Charming, Emma, Granny, etc in the wish realm alive and ruling. They opened a huge can of worms here which is a really stupid idea. I am trying to piece together this time line, which I know bad idea but when Nook visits Wish Realm Emma and Neal are together and Henry has been born, right? This is about 28-35 years after the failed curse?
Nook not only decides to break a deal with the dark one (bring me the magic hook and I will help free your daughter) but then decides to prove he is a good pirate by dueling with pistols with some other pirate that does not matter? Bad decisions all the way around. Gothel is actually right here, Nook has proven that he put his pride before being a father. Epic fail Nook.
March 16, 2018 at 11:13 pm #345975RumplesGirlKeymasterGENERAL: I actually quite liked this episode. It was entertaining and it felt like it was keeping its characters in mind instead of making up new information about them that ruin that which has come before. Hook, no matter which version, is obsessive and self-destructive because of that obsession.
8/10
LIKED
–“It’s not like she’s an actual witch.” says the pirate to the imp.
–Gothel is so delightfully menacing; her conversations with Nook in the police station really stood out. She’s much more villainous than Rapunzel ever was.
–“It’s a dangerous thing to call me ‘old man'” I laughed a little too loud at that one.
–Pitting Nook and Ahab against each other was smart; both our fictional Nook and the literary Ahab have a tendency to get obsessive over their “white whales”.
–I really *really* like Alice. It’s a rare thing when this show can introduce a character that I wish had been around for a lot longer.
–Filed under “Things RG will miss when this show is no longer on air:” Bobby Carlyle’s magnificent performance as Dark One Rumplestiltskin.
–“Read it? I lived it.” I got surprisingly emotional at this….is this going to keep happening as we get closer to the end?
MIXED
–My complicated feelings on Nook: when Hook (the original) was introduced in S2 I didnt care much for him. He was smarmy and gross and I didn’t like the way he treated Emma and others. The only time I warmed up to him was when the narrative aligned him with Baelfire in the S2 finale. Suddenly, Hook made sense; he wasn’t a romantic interest but he was the “Wicked Witch” to Baelfire and just like Emma would be the one to help bring Snow and Regina back together and find forgiveness so too would Baelfire help heal the rift between Hook and Rumple. Obviously, things didn’t really work out that way. But the writers, knowing that there’s a good portion of their audience who tired of Hook as a romantic lead, have taken his WishRealm!Hook (Nook) back to his original storyline by making him a father trying to find forgiveness with a child. It’s a smart move because it give Hook lovers another version of Hook and it gives non Hook lovers a chance to see the character as something more. I just wish the actual plot–like babies born of flowers to witches with no sense of consent–made more sense/wasn’t so icky.
DISLIKED
–Someone wanna explain the timeline? Because Wish Realm Rumple was let go when we first visited the Wish Realm back in S6 and Alice was born *after* the Curse was supposed to be cast in the EF2, if I recall. So A) Why is Rumple in jail at all and B) Is this the Wish Realm or is this the EF 2 The tower is in EF2 so…?
–So Nook lived in the tower without going out and being a pirate for like 8 yrs but never once did he buy himself some non pirate clothing? Ok, sure.
–Jacinda and Henry have so little chemistry that I actually found myself drawn more to Henry and Ivy and their connection.
–The doll, Beatrice, is creeeeeeepy.

Well, Wish Rumple was still in jail because the curse had never been cast in the Wish Realm, and this is several years before Emma and Regina freed him in “Wish You Were Here”, so this actually adds up. Still pretty sure EF2 and Wish Realm are 2 separate worlds that Hook is travelling back and forth from.
March 17, 2018 at 12:32 am #345980StahlopParticipantI quite liked this episode as well, but I’m also a big Hook fan. I miss seeing Colin O’Donahue in his guyliner on a regular basis, LOL.
Liked:
Alice/Tilly. She’s just amazing. Is she off her meds? She seems like she’s off them, but she just can’t see the whole picture. I like that they are making her look like the killer, although we all know she’s not. My money is on Gothel as the killer. Just not sure of the motive.
I liked young Alice as well. And how Nook dresses her like a doll. I love that he made her so girly and treated her like a precious little girl.
I also loved that they aged Nook. It’s been 10 years since the curse didn’t happen. Alice is actually only a few months (maybe even weeks) older than Emma. Although Smee didn’t seem to have aged. Maybe they were still going to Neverland.
Mixed:
I get that we needed the confrontation with Tilly in the hospital room, but where was everyone after Rogers hit the Code Blue button? And was Hilda not hooked up to anything? Shouldn’t a nurse have noticed that she had no vital signs on their monitor?
Ivy and Henry. So much more chemistry than Jacinda. I really wish that wasn’t established.
I found it weird that Regina confirmed to Lucy that she was right about everything when she’s not technically awake. Why hasn’t Regina woken Lucy up all the way yet? When Ivy woke up Regina she said you just had to be on the verge of believing for the potion to work. Lucy definitely believes.
Disliked:
Where was Zelena/Kelly tonight?
Regina’s walk of shame. Really?
Is there a reason the male florist couldn’t be a witch?
What happened to Maui’s fish hook?
So, Gothel is keeping tabs on Nook and Alice? She just knew that Nook would get into a dual with Ahab and, what, managed to dip the bullets in the mushroom juice? When? And why does she care that Nook let his pride get in the way of caring for Alice for a brief moment? She was going to leave a newborn to basically die so she could escape.
Timeline:
Alice is 10, which also makes Emma around 10 at this point. Alice was conceived the night Regina was defeated and couldn’t cast the curse. So only 10 years have passed since the curse didn’t happen. We haven’t reached the point yet where Regina came to the Wish Realm. That’s not for another 18 years or so. Rumple didn’t get released until Regina came.
Also, I think Nook left the tower periodically. He had to feed and clothe Alice. Plus he got her sand. Not sure how he had money unless he was just living off of past treasure.

That’s basically right, but I’d add about four years to your estimate, so Regina came to the Wish Realm about 22 years after the events in this episode, if Alice was 10. They stated in the Season 6 finale that Henry was supposedly 14 years old. Since he was not much younger when Regina went to the Wish Realm, we know that trip occurred when Emma was about 32, which would be 22 years after she and Alice were 10.

Okay, yes. The timeline makes a little more sense now but now I’m bothered by the whole world hopping thing. But I guess it’s just much easier than it used to be.

I was really hoping we’d get more on Jack/Nick’s backstory, and that he just happened to get a whole cache of beans after his experience with the giant. Although, I guess that doesn’t explain Nook’s ability to realm jump whenever he’d like.

I’d also like a lot more explanation, but I’m happy in taking solace that at least this jump isn’t between our world and Wish Realm or anything, but between two magical realms. While magical realm travel wasn’t so easy before, it was never the hardest thing to do.

The thing that doesn’t make sense to me, is I thought the Wish Realm did not exist until Emma wished it into existence? Wasn’t that stated somewhere? If that is true the wish realm should not be in existence at this time, right? I don’t know it is all way to convoluted for me now and I totally forgot that Alice and Emma where basically the same age in wish realm timeline but does that only count as Nook as he can travel back and forth to the wish realm? Anyway I think it was an incredibly bad idea to bring the wish realm back at all, it complicates a lot of story lines at least it should.
