I’m leaving off negative thoughts for now. I want to think positively about something that has given me so much joy over the years.
I think every ending for the characters of very sweet and satisfying, even if it may not have been what I envisioned for them. I wish they’d shown the two parts on one night with a long form episode like most of the other finales; I think this would have worked better as a double length episode after the last one.
What a beautiful final episode to a great show. It had plenty of AdamandEddy-isms (magic out of nowhere, random timelines with no explanations, telling not showing..) but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was THEIR finale and they gave us one more piece of Once Upon a Time, exactly as it has been for a long time.
Regina speaking to Rumple after his sacrifice was my favourite scene of the entire show. I’ve cried since about the show ending, but that was the one point in the episode that had me completely in tears. It was wonderfully fitting and had all the shades of saying goodbye to an old friend / loved one that it should have. Their friendship was within my top 5 favourite parts of the entire show so to have it end so fittingly was great. I only wish she’d been in the room to be able to tell him that he did the right thing.
( PS, if anybody has a screenshot of Regina kissing Rumple on the forehead I’d love to have it please!!)

-1 Alice, who knows that her father is deathly allergic to her, holds him to comfort him as he lies there convulsing.
+1 for not saying the b-word.
+1 for not saying the other b-word.
-1 The dagger is the Chekhov’s Gun of this season and the entire series. We needed to see it crumble or something.
+1 for the showrunners staying true to their vision. I didn’t always agree with their choices, but it was their show to create.

LIKED
The opening scene. Always good to start off with something light and funny
Regina and Wish Henry
Regina and Robin.
Every scene with Rumple/wish Rumple
Robyn asking permission to marry Alice then telling Nook that he will be there for the wedding
The dark knight grunt when he knock out the other dark knight. Even without the spoiler you could tell that it was David just from the grunt. I laughed good job David
Rumple giving his heart to Nook and WRumples worried tsk tsk tsk just before he does.
side note I hope they informed Gideon so he could berry Rumple next to Belle. They don’t exactly have a good history of keeping the Stiltkin family in the loop.
MIXED
‘You were the closest thing I had to a friend’ It was sweet but it wasn’t very true.
Blue – I’m sad she didn’t have a bigger role
DISLIKED
Rumple announcing that he lost his powers because of the pen. In the last episode that was exactly what Wish Rumple was trying to prevent .
What is so wrong with having Belle break the Dark One curse with true love kiss?
Bringing everyone to Storybrooke is a bad idea. Multiple versions of the same person in one place will get confusing.
I’m sorry but once Snow crowned Regina all I could think of was “CORA’S PLAN SUCCEEDED” “REGINA’S THE QUEEN”
Good always wins < That's just what Rumplestiltskin wants you to think Keeper of Belle's Theme Music, The Queen of Hearts Maze, Cora's Missing Heart,Tiny's Golden Harp

Yeah, but it’s also hilarious that of all the characters ever it’s Sneaky Blue Fairy who ends up trapped in her own realm of terrible.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 19, 2018 at 8:42 am #347496hjbauParticipantNothing about this show is remotely the writers original vision. They haven’t stayed true to their vision since Season 2.
The only positive thing was Robyn and Alice. They were the best thing about this episode and i wish they had been given a larger role in this season without having to be extensions of their parents problems.

I guess it’s not original in the sense that it wasn’t written all at once, but writing and producing a show takes time, so I don’t count that. We’re still hearing about how the creators are wrong for not featuring more of certain characters, but that would have been made-to-order fanfic instead of original vision.

May 19, 2018 at 12:28 pm #347501hjbauParticipantWell, this is their original work if that is what you mean, but what Ouat is now has no relations to the original concept of the show.
May 19, 2018 at 1:14 pm #347503GaultheriaParticipantI think that to be effective, entertainment needs to surprise. I like to guess how plot threads will resolve. I’d say OUAT continued to provide that experience through all seven years.
The risk in authors writing new surprises is that very often it’ll flop for other reasons. For authors to adjust their direction to stick with what’s safe and popular, however, ensures that there’ll be no surprises at all.
As a case in point, Neal was a second-season addition. Although he got a few mentions in first season, he didn’t coalesce into a fully-developed character until they hired the actor, learned about his strengths, and wrote his scripts. If they should’ve frozen the show’s progress after he became popular, to prevent changes to his part of the story, then they really ought to have frozen it before. But then we would’ve been watching the paint dry on a painting for the next several years.

They rewrote her again in Season 3 and i actually really like the Regina that they write now, but it is inconsistent and her arc is completely unearned. It makes no sense that she would be the queen of anything. Emma is the leader and has always been the leader.
Completely disagree with this. She was the written character on the show and I fail to see the inconsistencies you mention.
Also, do we get any points for still believing the Henry would be his undoing? FINALLY.
