Reminds me of a theory I have — I think the new EF may be the Dark Realm, post-Black Fairy. Surely, all those kids Gideon’s age had to come from somewhere! Did the writers expect us to believe they were all taken on the same night? I’m just saying, it would explain why the Lw/oM stuff still seems to take place, relatively in the present day.

I think it is a mistake when it feels like they are worried about changing the Disney versions of the characters for this show. The Disney versions can be a jumping off point, but they should have made the characters realistic people after that. Going the Stockholm syndrome route or leaning on Snow’s depression or Rumpel’s addiction, as well as, trying to realistically portray the difficult of blended families, with adopted, biological, and step parents would have been more interesting then what they did. What they did, was hint at all these things, but they never really got into the complication and depth that would have made all of those things interesting.
