A fun little factoid. While it’s sad that Anthony Stewart Head didn’t get to reprise his role as Galavant’s dad from last Season, the new actor is Greg Wise, who just so happens to be Emma Thompson’s husband!:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_WiseAnthony was very busy with theater work at the time, according to two of the writers and producers:

That type of lizard is actually called a bearded dragon, so YES DAMMIT TAD COOPER IS A REAL DRAGON. And they had the wearer of the KingsBeard adopt a bearded dragon, and I just wanna kiss whoever on the writing staff suggested that such a thing should happen because (much like everything else about this show) it’s perfect!!

The demo is steady with last week at a 0.6, while total viewers dropped a little to 2.32. Hopefully that 0.6 is the show’s floor, as I would hate for it to go down even more. Season 3 ain’t happening at this point, but I still don’t want to see more demo drops:

I know there is no chance of a third season but with Alan Mencken behind it, can we at least get a movie. Please! Pretty please!
People should be watching this masterpiece for Tim Omundson alone.
I wonder what the ratings would be if it were aired in summer and not up against football championships, award shows, political debates, …

Both Paul Lee and Karen David have mentioned how both ABC and Alan Menken get calls all the time from schools and theater groups about performance rights. Glenn Slater, the lyricist, has also teased the possibility. If there’s really enough demand, maybe an official stage production either on Broadway or a limited regional production could happen, followed by licensing the show out.

But it was fantastic. Only after it was gone did other people realize how good it was. I fear people will discover Galavant at a later date and regret not watching when it was originally aired, much like has happened with Pushing Daisies.

I think this is essentially why Galavant isn’t doing as well as it should. It’s just so different and unique. The concept of a musical based TV show could be off putting for casual TV viewers, and the show has a campy sense of humor. Not quite the same thing, but another less successful project for Alan Menken was the movie Newsies. The film was a box office bomb at the time, but it grew a cult following over time to the point that it would find later success as a Broadway musical. If Galavant gets the stage adaptation treatment in the future, perhaps there’s a potential of success for it in the same manner.

The funny thing is, the Pushing Daisies Facebook page has been pretty active lately, plus Fuller has been talking about the possibility of bringing it back from the dead (Can OUaT be the show that dies in its place?) after he does American Gods.
You know what reminds me of Pushing Daisies? Ace Attorney, but I digress.
Another thing that hurt Pushing Daisies was its effects budget. Too expensive for its viewership to justify. Not to mention the writers’ strike.
