I sort of like the name Phineas, you can shorten it to Finn, or Pinny (in Hebrew it’s Pinchas). I feel like Regina would have purposely picked out a horrible name for Rumple’s alter-ego. Rutherford means “from the cow ford”, which means nothing for Rumple—what about Nero? It means “power” and it was a Roman emperor.

Then again, it probably will be something like Bob.

I think his name will be something that sounds unthreatening. Everyone was afraid of Mr Gold, but would they have been if they knew his first name. Bob or Keith is a pretty unthreatening name. “Watch out! Here comes Keith” is hardly going to send people running for the hills. A name like Damien on the other hand….

Damien Gold actually has quite a ring to it and would sort of go with Rumple being the Dark One.

I think it is Kraven, bacause …
Kraven is derived from the English name “Craven” meaning “coward”.
He is so often told a Coward in the series maybe Regina wanted him to have this name in Storybrooke too, and it would be a good reason that he never use it, even in the cell 1.12. He only say my name is Mr. Gold as she asked him the twice, like he has no one.

I was looking for a name that meant coward and couldn’t find one! Damien would be awesome, but wouldn’t fit with not wanting to tell people. Keith would be hilarious–“Bob” would be a bit too meta, don’t you think? 😆

We should totally make a betting pool!

Everyone referred to Rumple as either Mr Gold or Gold including Regina. If she gave him a silly first name, you would think she would use it, if only to get one up on him by reminding him that she gave him a silly name.

Perhaps he is actually less scary to everyone as Mr Gold than he is as Damien Gold. They’ve already thrown in nods to E.T and Star Wars, why not throw in a reference to The Omen. (If only someone could do a video of Mr Gold clips with the theme from The Omen)

Damien’s a great name…it just reminds me too much of Vampire Diaries. Cora referred to him as Master…a name that has master for a meaning might work.

Well, I have to vote for Phineas for sentimental reasons – that was my dad’s name.

The mention of names meaning “Master” reminded me of something else. Did anybody else ever notice that the writing on the wall above Regina’s office says “Magister”? That’s Latin for “master” or “teacher” but I always found it odd that they used the masculine “Magister” instead of the feminine “Magistra”. Could there be any significance there?

“It’s all for you, Damien.” Hmmmm, that would actually fit quite nicely with the theme of the show, wouldn’t it.

I would totally go for Damien. It is threatening yet sexy just like my Rumple. It would be very nice for him to have a funny name too 😉

It’s silly, but the name Damien kinda creeps me out, (only seen the Omen movies once, but I guess they left an impact). Whenever I hear of someone with that name, I wanna shake their parents and say, “Are you crazy people trying to tempt fate?!” 😆
