Oh, that’s so cute, RG. Does bunny get his own stocking, too?
So, thank the heavens I knit this hat in wool…meaning I’m going to felt the heck out of this thing and shrink it. I knew I wanted it to be a bit bigger and slightly felt it so I knit it in a heavier yarn but I checked my gauge and it wasn’t off in the beginning, but the brim is done and when I put it around my head it falls to my neck. I think part of it is I knit the large size, thinking my head was 22″ in diameter. Turns out I was wrong. It’s 21.5″. That might not seem like much but when you’re doing patterns it can sometimes royally screw you up.
I will say the pleats turned out well. Now the trick is how much longer than the pattern to make the body of the hat so it won’t be too short when it shrinks up. This hat is is just one big experiment. I’ve never hand-felted before. Something I’m going to have to do to get this to fit correctly. Going to take lots of luck for it to turn out, but I have faith. 😉

Get ready fellow crafters! After two months the choo choo stocking is almost complete. Will update with pics later today. Only three more to go and a tree skirt. Not going to make all those this year.

Christmas always puts me in a crafty mood!
I made a handprint tree with Reed and then made a stocking coin purse. I preferred the stocking without the coin purse part so I might make another without.

So here is a pic of my hat. The knitting is done and it’s currently being felted. It did shrink up a good bit and will be wearable. This is the before felting picture modeled by moi:
I will have pictures at the finish. It shall look like a normal hat (I hope), but I did warn everyone I was knitting a huge hat fit for an ogre or giant. 😛
Edited: My felting is done and it was successful. Now I just have to let it dry, shave all the fuzzies off and then make the ribbon and bow. I’m shocked it turned out.
