I’ve started to practice two-colour brioche knitting. It’s… I’m struggling for the right word, so for now I’ll just say that it’s neat. I like the blend of texture and colour.

1) Lion Brand Heartland in “Denali” (blanket)
2) Red Heart Unforgettable in “Winery” (Hat)
3) Lion Brand Unique in “Grapevine) (Scarf)
4) BOOOOOOK! I love this book. It does the math part for me!
Attn all crafty friends
Do not be fooled by pretty colorways of Red Heart Unforgettable! I rather hate this yarn!!!!!!
First, there is no way on god’s green earth that this is a worsted weight yarn. Second…SO FUZZY. Third, it goes from thick to thin. It’s like it needed spun a few more times.
It’s GORGEOUS but soul crushing yarn. The hat I’m making from it is taking much longer because i am going so slow!
In spite of the terrible yarn, the hat turned out wonderful and is very pretty.
Ooh so pretty! Great job RG!
I have some of that yarn on my wishlist on Amazon. I want to make the art infinity scarf on Moogly and it calls for that. Since the pattern states any can be used I will go with the tried and true Deborah Norville Everyday Yarn.
The hat is beautiful, RG.
I wonder about the quality control on Unforgettable. I was reading the other day some reviews on it and some people hated it and some people had no problems with it. Uneven yarn would be horrible for knitting. Totally throw off gauge. If I were to use it, it certainly wouldn’t be for a large project.
I’ve been lusting after some Noro yarn for a long time. I think it comes from Japan. It’s expensive no matter the variety but the colorways are always just so beautiful. However, I’ve read so many complaints about bits of twig and straw spun into the fibers. If I’m spending a lot on a skein, that thing better be pretty flawless.
I wish I had a LYS accessible near me. There are some down in the city and by looking at the map they look doable, but in reality they just aren’t a feasible trip, especially in winter. Maybe this summer I’ll venture into parts unknown and go search some out. I had the same problems with dollhouse miniature stores. When I got into the hobby there were still a few around. But the last small mom and pop store that I’d go to an hour away closed up because the couple retired. It’s just easier to buy off the internet. But sometimes you’d like to see product in person before buying.

Few things I’ve been working on. Nothing super spectacular but more practical. 🙂

Fresh off the hook….
A scarf in “Grapevine” in the Chinese Lantern pattern
I really love that scarf. I got a crochet hook pendant and shawl pin from my parents for Christmas. I will post picks later. I think I am going to make a pancho later.
Also, I made stitch markers out of clay. They were very easy to make. Much cheaper than buying the cute ones on Etsy.
