Maybe it is citizens of the EQ’s realm that were affected, even if they were in another land.
I also posted on the “Who is the stranger? thread” about the idea of August being Merlin. Found a post about that, that someone else had written on a blog. I kind of like that idea too, although my favorite so far is Peter Pan. Least favorite idea: Pinnochio.

Episode 4: The price of Gold
Episode 8: Desperate Souls
Episode 19: The ReturnAll are about Rumpled and two focus on Rumpled and Bae. Episode 4 has the well in it. Interesting.
April 9, 2012 at 9:15 pm #141586hjbauParticipantEp 4 is an Emma episode using Cinderella.

And features Rumple. The prince disapears at the well when he goes for water.
Side note: in 1984 the band Kansas relased a greatest hit album with a special version of….. Carry on you wayward son.
April 9, 2012 at 9:26 pm #141589miaParticipant😯 With that info, it seems to me that is the actual meaning behind the plate. The creators love to put some different asspciations in the show, not just fairy tail stuff (like the nurse down at the hidden ward).

Seems a fitting song for the guy who is helping Emma believe so she can break the curse.April 9, 2012 at 9:57 pm #141603cruel_fortunaParticipant@KalliopeKisees wrote:
names’ meanings are:
August: “lordly” or “venerated.”Wayne: “wagon / cart builder or driver”. I also think of the word WANE: to decrease in strength, intensity 2. to decline in power, importance, prosperity,
Booth: Herald / From the Market Stall / typical dwelling place of a cowherd or shepherd / Herdsman
Your post made me think of another ‘wayward son’ who we haven’t seen since around ep.6 ( ‘The Shepard’ ). James/Shepard!Charming’s twin brother! Thinking on it, it never said if he was an identical or a fraternal twin. The name meaning you gave for August, also made me think, hm.. you know, Shepard!Charming’s twin was lordly, seeing as he was made a prince because Rumpelstiltskin procured him for King George, since he & his wife couldn’t have a child.
It’s too bad he died in FTL which pretty much means, he won’t be showing up in SB. I think it would have fit nicely with August’s shadowy past, ah well.
On to my other note.
I found some other name meanings for August which might be of use in furthering the August is Baelfire theory. This note is more of an addendum to the whole etymology of Beltane & Bael & what have you.But it’s interesting to note that Jacob Grimm was interested in the lingua & etymology of the pagan festival of Ostra ( which eventually Christians adapted – & became Easter.) In his research, he found a link to an old Norse text; Gylfaginning – which referenced a male called Austri; which Grimm describes that character as a “spirit of light” which harkens back to the harvest fire & general use of fires in the Beltane festival – which relate to Baelfire.
So “spirit of light” would be a nice contrast to Rumple’s “Dark one.”
All in all – all the theories regarding August are very well researched and thought-out, I just want to know who August is so that I can start with the gloating; just kidding.

Storybrooke is where everyone from FTL went to. Yes, Jefferson was in Wonderland, but he still resided in FTL with his daughter so he and his daughter (along with everyone else from FTL) ended up in Storybrooke. But because Jefferson was trapped in Wonderland at the time of the curse (I’m just assuming) his house in SB that he’s trapped in represents the fact that he was trapped in Wonderland. But he’s still in SB because he lived in FTL.
In regards to August coming and going, no I don’t believe the Oz would have any powers (though it’d be nice). But I think each world has its own special mode of transporting between each world. For Wonderland, the hat is used to come and go. For the Land of Oz, the tornado storm is what got Dorothy out of Kansas. The hot-air balloon is what took the wizard of oz there (via storm). I think August’s motorcycle could be his “hot-air balloon” to go between worlds. For Neverland, idk… maybe you need special fairy dust is required to fly to each world. For Agrabah, perhaps the magic carpet is the only way in and out. I’m just making up stuff but I’m trying to make myself clear. I don’t think Jefferson’s hat is the only way to go to the other worlds.
As far as making the story too complicated, they definitely don’t have enough time this season to introduce us to the Land of Oz. But if we find out August is Oz, then I suspect a season finale cliffhanger that ends with the Land of Oz, hinting that they will spend an entire season explaining that world. And then season two ends with Captain Hook, which gives the entire third season to explain Neverland, and so on and so forth.
I know it’s a lot to take in and handle, but these writers can make anything work. We’ve seen it first-handed. With my theory, I’m not sure if everyone would still be in SB and only the flashbacks take place in the Land of Oz, or if a tornado comes sweeping through SB sending everyone over the rainbow, or even if everyone had multiple characters giving each their own identity in each world (chyeah right). However, Rumpel stated in the pilot that “the final battle will begin!”. I don’t think we have enough higher-power people for there to be a battle in SB. I think it has to include the other worlds or else this series won’t last long. They can’t just keep dragging it out for 8 or 9 seasons. Could you imagine if Emma still didn’t believe 8 years from now?! No way. There are already hints of her faith so something else, and I mean something big, needs to happen so that we know just how DARK this curse really is.
ps. They day August is Pinocchio is the day I become tinkerbell.
