Maybe, despite himself, he was looking for someone with a mind, someone who he could actually talk to IF he one day felt like it……..
IF Lumiere is in the DC Past and maybe Rumple turned him into a candlestick, then he would be in SB,right? and human again? Wonder where he would work.
