I want to start this thread because we are all speculating so much as to who August will turn out to be. The writers seem to be having a lot of fun with us because it seems there is evidence to support all the theories. So what I propose is to compile a list of FACTS about what we know about August. No theories or speculations in this thread please. Just the facts. Then we can all refer to this data base while speculating. I’ll start it off! 😀

He knew about Henry’s book
He obtained and appears to have edited the book
He spoke about travelling to Nepal and of prayer temples being overrun with lemurs
He was not transported to SB with everyone else – drove into town on his bike
Regina said he seems familiar to her

August pulls pages from the kind of tray used by photographers for developing photographs, then he hand stitches together a new binding for Henry’s book. 1×13
August says “How bout you stop having to control everything and take a leap of faith” when he’s enticing Emma to hop on his bike in front of Granny’s. 1×13
At the well, August says: “Say what you want about me, but I always tell the truth” , “I’m a writer, I have to have an open mind” and “water is a very powerful thing”. 1×13
August watches from across the street as Emma discovers the red box with Henry’s book in the gutter next to the rear wheel of her car. 1×13
August wears several curious pieces of jewelry, including: a metal bracelet, a gold chain bearing a golden claw or tooth-shaped pendant, and a silver cross or tree-like object hanging from a longer silver chain.
The name August means “great, magnificent”; Wayne means “wagon builder or driver”; and Booth means “dwelling place.” This may imply that he is a major character coming home.
The pages he added to Henry’s book were from the fairytale “The Golden Bird”
In the episode ‘Red-Handed”, August claims to be very well-traveled, having spent at least a year abroad, visiting places as far as Nepal.
While talking to Henry he tells him that he is a believer, and thinks the books stories are real
August thinks that Henry is a “smart kid” for believing in magic.
He orders a glass of water at Granny’s
The book is “as real as [he is]”
August arrived at the end of “True North” but doesn’t give Emma his name. It is not until they meet for the third time that he reveals his name.
He says that Storybrooke “provides inspiration”
Emma asks him at least twice if he’s been to Storybrooke before (7.15am, What Happened to Frederick) and he avoids the question.
We didn’t actually see August come to town. Meaning we didn’t watch him come in where the local sign is that declares “You are entering Storeybrook”. I hate to say definitively that he did.

EP have said in interviews August is Not Future Henry nor the writer of the book
So we can cross both those options off of our lists.
He talks about Lemurs being in Napel- when there are in fact none. (the fact he describes their eye shine, size & that they are animals leaves no interpretation other than lying for me).
