As revealed by Adam and Eddy on the official podcast, “Manhattan” was originally going to start with a flashback of Young Rumple. Rumple wakes up, and his father leaves telling him he’s going to get some water. Rumple noticed his father was running out on him. It turns out his father owed money to two men, and he was trying to run out and he gets killed in front of Rumple. The two men then say “take him to the spinsters.” This experience haunted him. Adam and Eddy said it was cut because it didn’t feel like it added to the episode, but it will hopefully be on the DVD/Blu-Ray.

Intersting. I think that, that would be really good to see. To bad that they cut it.
I also really want to see the scene with Hook and the jelly. It sounds hillarious 😆

Hmm, interesting. If the writers really wanted, they could write another back story all about Rumpel’s dad. And that deleted scene could go in there.

Good to know that they spoke about it and they wanna include the scene on the DVD. We knew that YoungRumple and his father had been cast for this ep, so it was a bummer they ended up on the cutting room floor.

Guess that means his father isn’t actually all that important. I thought we’d get that story, but I still want to see those spinsters!!

I can’t wait to listen to the new podcast- apparently my itunes didn’t want to download it originally!! Even if they didn’t think it added to the episode- I feel like it would add to the overall story. It would have given us a look into Rumples boyhood. Here’s hoping it pops up somewhere!! I watched the season 1 deleted scenes and I liked the August scene where he says “Don’t let them see you coming”- wished they had fit that in somewhere too last season!

So Rumple learned to spin from the “spin”sters. That’s funny. xD

I noticed the press release credited David Quinlan as “father” and Spencer Drever as “boy.” I saw neither in the aired version of the episode, so I assume these actors played Young Rumple and his father.

    David Quinlan

    Spencer Drever
