Just some theory to the idea that david is a wolf.. I actully really like the idea… and here are some reasons why,

the conflict in the woods of him having conflicting personalities may have just been a nod to the story but sure could work with the beast within theory.

James was a shepard- a.k.a.. a wolf in Sheeps…err shepards clothing.

He was very good at finding and killing the dragon.

and finally…. he was wearing a red hood in one of the episodes…. was it to keep the wolves away or keep his beast from revealing himself. i think it’s connected some how!

    things to think about!

I posted this same theory under the Ruby/Red Riding Hood Character Analysis post: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=291

It’s rather odd that David’s memory lapses in SB seem to parallel Red’s in FTL. Does that mean David could also be a werewolf in SB, but doesn’t know it (the way Red didn’t know about being a werewolf in FTL)? Another wild theory of mine is that David could be Graham’s wolf guide, the one with the multicolored eyes: one red as blood and the other dark as night (a reference to Snow White). After all, David only has eyes for Snow White (lame joke). I doubt it, but it’s worth surmising over.

I’m not sure how likely it is that David is a werewolf, but the thought did occur to me. It seems like the writers were highlighting David’s memory lapses in a way that parallels the ones Red faced. David could be a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” so to speak. He’s an expert at tracking/finding people, since he’s always able to find Snow White in FTL. Back in SB, Ruby was easily able to track down David in the woods. Maybe David’s father in FTL was a werewolf? Again, that is probably very far fetched.

I actually didn’t think they were paralleling David’s lapses with Red’s because David’s lapses had happened before.

First, I want to make it clear that red doesn’t keep wolves away. Granny just said that to get Red to wear her hood. The hood was magical, and that was what kept her from turning. We have no reason to believe the color matters at all.

Frankly, and I mean no offense, I think this idea is as silly as August being future Henry. There is just no way. There is absolutely no way Prince Charming is a wolf. Zero possibility.

If there was any reason for parallel, which I doubt, I think it would be that David is, for whatever reason, getting some of James coming out somehow. He is remembering something, or like a wolf, that part of him is taking over. Mary Margaret did say he looked like another person. I mean, obviously James and David are the same person, really, but in some very real ways they are not. I think it is just his fake SB cursed self and his real FTL self are warring in his subconscious.

I also think it is very unlikely that Charming is a wolf. I also like the idea that his two memories are waring with each other and there have been a lot of allusions to that in the show.

I finally watched the episode last night and I’m not sure that I like the idea of David being a wolf, maybe it’s been we’ve already seen so many sides to his character. I do like the twist of making Red/Ruby the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood. I thought that was brilliant.

i’m bringing it up again…and maybe their just trying to mess with me and give alot of tie ins cause their awesome like that….I think the collar on jame’s coat was a grey wolf’s fur…wheather this is just to aid to the story that yes wolves are present, or to further add to my theory…i don’t know.. I didn’t see any red on his coat, which I kind of wish I did… because that would mean without it he’d be victim to transformation.

Maybe I’m just being the boy who cried wolf, but i felt like rumple took a lot of time to find that, hair and maybe it was a more “pure” hair of his true form. I missed gettign this in before the show.. but I wanted to share that observation.

Also, maybe it’s cause James is a shepard.. and a good guy, but James works at an animal shelter, and gave a dog card to Kathhern. Found the cottage in the woods pretty well, and huffs and puffs while beathing heavily…oh wait that’s everyone… 🙂 now I’m just being silly

David being “Big Bad Wolf” I’d interesting theory. It would be nod to the comic book series Fables, which OUaT has been compared to a lot. In the Fables series, Snow White actually divorces Prince Charming and goes on to marry the Big Bad Wolf. Check out Wikipedia for more details on Fables.
