Did Regina put a spell on King Leopold’s guards to make them loyal to her after he had died? Because Snow specifically referred to all the King’s guards (that not one of them had failed to say their condolences to her post-her father’s death).
And we saw in ‘Snow Falls,’ that one black knight, ready to kill Snow White without a second thought. I mean, the Queen’s guards can’t be the same guards who were loyal to her father, or are all of them under Regina’s spell? Or did Regina fire her husband’s old guards and brought on mercenaries instead?

I’m wondering why the Evil Queen didn’t just have one of her own guards kill Snow White instead of sending the huntsman.

Good question. I hadn’t thought about that. Didn’t EQ in some episode make a comment about how everyone at the palace was still loyal to Snow? I don’t remember which episode that was in but I’m almost positive she said that at some point. Gosh, darn it now I’m gonna have to back and watch them all again until I find it. There must be some episode that it is going to deal with how EQ convinced everyone that Snow killed her father? Since she had the Wanted posters with Snow’s pictures on them that seem to imply that she had murdered her father?
Once thing I will say about this show is the farther you get into it, the more holes you discover and the more you realize there is missing from the backstory. I am in the process of re-watching the episodes with my son to get him caught up and he has said a few times that it is a bit confusing – but he’s 10 so sometimes I have to rewind or go back to other episodes so he remembers stuff.

It may be that the Queen tries to frame Snow for Snow’s father’s murder so then all the guards are no longer loyal to Snow, but later on it comes out that the Queen actually did the murder and that is when the Queen loses their loyalty.
It may be at the time that the huntsman is sent most of the guards are still loyal to Snow though i think that there were some guards in the room when the Queen was talking about sending the huntsman. It is sort of unclear. Maybe a few of the guards are loyal to the Queen. Maybe she has a few of their hearts. I don’t know.

The EQ has all of their hearts? I don’t think she has the space for that. I think it would have been too obvious to send one of her guards to kill SW. I mean, this was right after her father died.

That was “The Heart is a Lonely Huntsman” 🙁 the one where Graham died 🙁 🙁

At this point the kingdom is still loyal to Snow White. The queen knows that the kings gaurds would not harm Snow because they are all giving their condolences. The queens mirror is the one who suggests the huntsman. We know that the queen said that “she” refuting to Snow White couldn’t keep a secret.
This is what caused the queen to be angry at Snow White. If we watch Heart of A Lonely Hunter we see that Snow White knows that she has angered the queen and knows that the queen wants her dead. With the princess out of the picture the queen becomes the next in line to rule the trown and can do what she sees fit with anyone in the palace; dispose of them and call upon her own men.March 3, 2012 at 8:54 pm #138095hjbauParticipantIt was The Heart is a Lonely Hunter where Snow says goodbye to her father at his grave and is hugging the queen and they send for the huntsman and the Snow talks about her father’s men giving condolences. That is all in that same episode. Snow Falls happens after all of that when Regina has already accused Snow of treason and murder we are assuming of her father though there may be more to it then that.
March 3, 2012 at 10:59 pm #138097miaParticipantYou’re right hjbau and your last sentence just reminded me of something. Snow did have that fairy dust and she wanted to use it on Regina. She might’ve tried to kill her before … On the other hand, Snow wanted to leave the EQ’s kingdom and go somewhere far away. That implies, she doesn’t want to do anything and only has the dust for an emergency.
Back to the original questions:
I think those black guards/the EQ’s guards are either on her side because they like her ways, don’t care, are afraid or have lost their hearts to her (literally). The other guards are still loyal to Snow. THAT is why she needs the huntsmen. She can’t take her own guards, not only because they’re loyal to Snow, but because even if she did use a soldier on her side, the others would know, she sent him. That’s my two pence.March 5, 2012 at 3:16 am #138136ciela_crowParticipantWow, theres a lot of great ideas here :). I agree with Mia. Maybe Snow knew that the Queen killed her father or was wanting to kill her. She could have gotten the fairy dust from someone in the castle or kingdom and tried to use it on the Queen. I can see her about to throw it on the Queen, and then the Queen using her dark magic and setting Snow free in the forest, wanting to play some sort of “game” where she tracks Snow down to kill her. . Did the huntsman lead Snow into the forest? I can’t remember.
Its just another one of my crack theorys 😀
