KeymasterBecause it was real. Because we knew it. Because no matter what happens in the coming months, it was REAL and it was TRUE.

KeymasterSo tonight at the Ranch, DSB, Jo, Ranisha and I tried to analyze JMo’s comments at the Fairy Tale Con because there was a lot more going on beside the above linked GIF set. This is a run down.
Question from Audience: On behalf of the CS fans on Twitter and Tumblr, A&E say they always planned CS – when did you two relize they could be meant to be together forever
Colin: I can, well, I don’t know if – it wasn’t a definite when I first started. I knew that they had planned for Capt Hook to be part of a sort of love triangle thing, which happened, and, er… that was as much as I knew at the time.” “But I kind of – it was pretty early on – you sort of figured out what they were doing. t was one of those things where we weren’t sure if it was going to happen or not, but uh… I guess it did”
DSB Commentary and Analysis: They were more enthusiastic about this ship before it canon happened
I mean his tone of voice is not uncertain
and the “ums” are natural, not necessarily drawn out
and then he finishes that last statement and just kind of tosses his hands up like, “I gave it a shot”
(JMo gets the Mic to answer the CS question)
Jmo: Uhm, I think… it was, it was interesting because obviously Neal was such a true love for Emma…And, um, her first love. There was so much to be resolved between them once he was back in her life, and once she realized he had made the decisions he had made for a reason
DSB commentary: She had the mic when hte question was asked. Passed it to Colin. Had his whole answer to formulate a respose and THAT is how she starts? LOL
and there she goes with eyes on the ground again. (lying tell)
so she meets the asker’s eyes through “such a true love for Emma.” Then eyes to go a spot on the for, “and, um, her first love.” There is also a shift in tone of voice but it might just be to the conclusion of the statement
So there you go. Some interesting answers from JMo and Colin–even bringing up Neal for a CS question in general. DSB and I had a VERRRRRRY long chat on the road to Knobles about ABC and what was going on with some of the actors and the stance many have taken in the past, or the way they’ve acted. There have been some shifts in party lines lately. It’ll be interesting to see how JMo acts at SDCC.

ParticipantColin: “I can, well, I don’t know if – it wasn’t a definite when I first started. I knew that they had planned for Capt Hook to be part of a sort of love triangle thing, which happened, and, er… that was as much as I knew at the time. But I kind of – it was pretty early on – you sort of figured out what they were doing. It was one of those things where we weren’t sure if it was going to happen or not, but uh… I guess it did.”
The only thing that Colin knew back in S2 when he took the role was that Hook would be one point of a love triangle, alongside Emma and Neal. Yet, Colin didn’t know which way it would go from the start or whether Hook would even still be around after S2. “It wasn’t definite” that Emma would end up with Hook, according to Colin himself. A&E’s claim that they always intended CS might just be that they always intended to have a love triangle which included Hook and Emma, but not necessarily that they always intended for Hook to be the last one standing. “It was one of those things where we weren’t sure if it was going to happen or not, but uh… I guess it did.” In other words, even Colin was himself surprised when Neal was killed off in favor of Hook’s character sticking around.
Jmo: “Uhm, I think… it was, it was interesting because obviously Neal was such a true love for Emma…And, um, her first love. There was so much to be resolved between them once he was back in her life, and once she realized he had made the decisions he had made for a reason.”
Her first words are her truest, sincerest thoughts. She begins by saying “obviously Neal was such a true love for Emma.” It was obvious to her, to the other actors, and to us the audience.
RumplesGirl wrote: Because it was real. Because we knew it. Because no matter what happens in the coming months, it was REAL and it was TRUE.
Yep. The swan necklace is testament to that. Everyone knew it. The actors, the writers, and most (if not all) of the general audience. Because on a show where true love is declared to be the greatest love of all, Emma’s and Neal’s love being “canonically” true is evidence of what the writers’ original intent was, as per Belle’s comment about the swan necklace being “born of true love.” It was obvious that the love Emma felt for Neal was real because, otherwise, it wouldn’t have hurt her so deeply when he left without knowing the real reason. The real reason she wore that necklace wasn’t what she told Neal (i.e. “never to trust anyone again”), but the reason she later tearfully revealed to her parents (i.e. “because I never stopped loving him“). JMo isn’t being a revisionist here. You can tell she’s trying to understand Emma’s choices in the script, but perhaps still is left grasping at straws.
DSB commentary: She had the mic when hte question was asked. Passed it to Colin. Had his whole answer to formulate a respose and THAT is how she starts? LOL
And yeah, exactly. In reply to the question of whether or not CS was always meant to be, JMo chooses to respond by saying “obviously Neal was a such a true love for Emma.” I’m forever ROTFL!

ParticipantSome of SwanQueens Bad Apples are at it again…
God bless Yvette for having enough patience to do this again with them….
I, as a grown woman, just realized arguing back and forth with other grown folks about what's essentially fan fic is just…dumb.

KeymasterUm. No. She was highly unprofessional with her #YourShipIsNotCanon after she ASKED for questions from the fandom. If she doesn’t want to ask those questions, FINE. But whether you ship it or not SQ is a huge part of this fandom and it also happens to be a story that A and E are telling, whether they make it romantic or not. This entire past season was one big SQ bait, so of course they have questions. For Yvette to tear it down and hashtag it like that and say that they aren’t “true fans” of the show (which is what she did!) is to dismiss a major part of this fandom and its story. I don’t ship CS nor SQ. But I respect that others do and that they have a right to ask questions about their ship that they love.Just like I would have the right to ask about SF. The Swen fandom did nothing wrong…she started it with her blatant intolerance without regard for others feelings and opinions.

Well, when you put it like that, I guess you do have a point.
Though it was a little nice to see SQ get knocked off their high horse for a bit, they’ve dished out some major disrespect for the past three seasons, completely disregarding cast member’s feelings, even Lana herself’s personal life. Not saying all SQ are bad, but those that are seem to be way more outspoken than the nice apples. And the second someone (Not Yvette) calls the bad out on it, they go on the defensive…truly amazes me how they can pitch the ball, but don’t want to catch it when it’s being thrown back at them.
Yvette does make a good point here…
@geeksashay The whole ship thing started with deciding folks SHOULD be together & putting them together in your mind. It wasn't about canon
— yvette nicole brown (@YNB) June 25, 2015
@geeksashay And that's when shipping was fun. Now it's all entitlement & in-fighting which ruins everyone's love of the show.
— yvette nicole brown (@YNB) June 25, 2015
And in all fairness…she didn’t specify SQ name. There are twelve hundred thousand OUAT Headcannon Ships, SQ, as usual….just immediately went on the defense. Most still heated due to their last showdown with Yvette.
And I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think Adam’s right…Yvette was referring to rude fans as not being real fans.
@SwanQueenSwen my understanding is she means rude fans of ANY ship. All ships welcome! Of course Swan Queen fans are welcome!

But quick question that’s besides the point….was MRJ’s Sons of Liberty like a mini series? Because it says it continues tomorrow….
Things are heating up in tomorrow night's #SonsOfLiberty @MRaymondJameshttps://t.co/U7Jl28mSqY
