Friendly reminder that SOMEBODY sacrificed himself for the town and his love without being the one to have tried to kill everyone in the first place, and while never claiming to be a hero.

    That article is so true!

Once has become CS focussed to the point that everyone else has become secondary characters. It’s no coincidence that the shows drop in quality began once CS became canon and started taking over the show.

I think half the trouble is that, whereas we’ve seen Regina and Rumple earn their redemption (with varying results), Hook’s has just been handed to him on a silver platter. He didn’t earn it, he feels no remorse for his past actions, it’s all an act to get Emma’s pity and to get in her pants. IMO Dark One Hook was the real Hook coming out to play. He confessed that he likes Emma’s wall up so that HE can be the ones to break them down. CS is all about Hook’s self-gratification. Hook is now Once’s creator’s pet.

Snowing are now Hook’s cheerleaders. Emma, who used to be a “strong” independent woman who didn’t take crap from anybody, has not only been reduced to a prize to be one but has now turned into a selfish petulant fawning child who can’t see the bigger picture at all. She is now dependent on Hook to make her feel loved and capable, she completely ignores her family including her son in favour of Hook unless they can help her in some way eg going to the underworld to rescue him.

Every other character has been reduced to supporting cast in the great “love” story of CS including Regina and Rumple. Regina’s purpose is now to give pep talks to Emma whilst Rumple is there to serve as an antagonist to Hook’s “hero”.

Hook has been forced into that ill-fitting role just through fan popularity and as a result ALL characters have suffered. Poor Belle’s purpose is now to be deceived by Rumple at every opportunity “because he’s evil”. However, he shows more care and concern for her than any of the other heroes combined. They only use her for information but don’t give a crap about her well-being or feelings or even treat her as an actual person.

CS is slowly killing the show.

All magic comes with a price!

CS is slowly killing the show.

Not so slowly. And I’d personally use a past tense verb there.

    CS killed the show.

so I heard. Hook sacrificed himself. *roll eyes* this is exactly what I was afraid of after watching “quiet minds”. I was terrified that Hook will be the one to bring back Neal or something noble like that. well, this is alot WORSE!
    you see,
I saw the TV show, and HEARD Rumple call himself a coward, a monster and all sorts of unpleasant names, and at the same time, I SAW Rumple giving his last bit of money to a beggar, save his son from the Ogers war, and give cinderella back her baby in exchange of a “favor”. I also saw him love Belle, and ask August for forgiveness thinking it was his son. and all of this in the first season. it was obvious that Rumple was a much bigger character than just a reformed villian like Regina. and, oh, it was soooooo exciting! that’s why when season 3a came along and we found out more about his father and the suffering he has been through, and then seeing him be the exact opposite of his villain father and make what seemed to be his last sacrifice, the show reached a new level of beautiful. Rumpel’s tragic story was as beautiful as Cora’s karma story.

I also saw Hook. I HEARD him call himself a man of honor, with “good form” but at the same time, I SAW him kick a beggar to the ground and hurt an invalid just for fun. so when the fandom suddenly convinced me that Hook is the romantic hero and Neal will leave the show forever… at first I did not believe it. I was laughing at all of you thinking that OF COURSE Neal will come back. when I saw you were right, though. I simply STOPPED watching. and ever since then, I try to unwatch what I saw after pan was defeated. because, as sad as that was, at least it was a good wholesome story. Oh, it was such a heartbreakingly beautiful story…

Yes. Once Upon A Time is season 1-3A. Everything after is just poorly planned and poorly executed fanfic. Whenever I rewatch the show, I always end at 311 right before the redundant “One Year Later” scene.

Hook is the antithesis of rumple
Right from the very beginning of the show, we already get the feeling that Rumple is:
    1) Honest
    2) kind
    3) Wants to defeat evil
    4) Believes that love is strength
    5) Very polite
    6) Very, very powerful
Honest, because although no one will admit it, everyone trusts him. they know that if they agree on a deal he WILL hold his end of the bargain
Kind, because he gave Emma the walker-talkie toy so she can spend time with Henry, he paid for Henry’s necklace (the one that protected him from the fiery room -Rumple said “this one is ON ME” in other words, magic has a price, but I will pay for this one. He was very poor, but still gave money to a beggar etc.
He wants to defeat evil, because he said that he will take the dagger and use that power for good. His whole curse was one that will “end all curses” by stopping evil people who become dictators to torture the peasants.
He believes, unlike all the TRUE villains in this show, that love is strength. He even bottles love, knowing that it is the most powerful magic.
He is also very polite. He always listens to people even when what they say is painful for him to hear. He treats people with respect even when they barge into his shop demanding things from him.
He is very powerful because he was able to change Henry and Pan’s bodies using the black fairy’s wand and, well, he fought that dark curse internally for generations

So this is the rumple I know, because I only watched season 1, 2, and half of 3.
Since we first met Hook we already get the feeling that Hook is:
    1) Dishonest
    2) A bully
    3) Wants to defeat good
    4) Believes that love is weakness
    5) Very sexualized
    6) Has no power at all
Dishonest, because he keeps switching sides. He does it so easily, that it’s impossible to trust him at all.
A bully, because he berated a beggar who by mistake bumped into him, making him drop his tin, and bullying a cripple
He wants to defeat good, because when Rumple beats him up on his ship, he provokes him, and, well, he becomes a pirate (ok, this argument is a bit weak, but remember when Pan said that I expected to see more from you- Hook answered “you will”? right after that fight when Pan said “cheaters never win”.. it sounds like there is more to hook than we see)
He asks Archie what Rumple loves what is his weakness, and goes straight for Belle
He flirts with every woman and her mother
And he is constantly bested by everyone on the show
That’s the Hook that I know, since I only watched season 1 till 3.
    They are exact opposites.
