ParticipantI can’t seem to find anything about the actors’ contracts, but as far as I know season 5 is the final season they are contracted to do. I would be very surprised if Ginny, Josh, Robert and Emilie continued to season 6.
I would be very surprised if this was the last season. Based on the ratings, what ABC execs have said, and just where the story currently is (don’t think they can wrap it up successfully in a half season), I fully expect season 6 to be the last, no matter what the contracts are. It would be very disappointing if they had to end it short. The writers would want to tell the fans when the final season was, or when they were ending it. If they cut it after this season, it would not be part of the plan.

ParticipantLoL. Ginny is not that subtle, calling the characters hypocrites and that they’d be willing to do anything.
Wow, I hadn’t seen that interview of Ginny and Josh before. You can really tell from Ginny’s demeanor and body language that she just isn’t buying it anymore. I think Josh was at least trying to give an account of what motivates his character, but you could hear in the tone of Ginny’s voice and by her curt answers that she’s totally done with this version of Snow White.

Yes, the ratings suggest that there will be a sixth season, but this has no effect on the actors and their contract. They can have a sixth season without them if they are no longer obligated to do it.
They pretty much wrap everything in 11-12 episodes now, making every season a self contained story and such. They really don’t have that much to resolve in order to finish it.
The show will end when abc wants it to end, not A&E (A&E will never end it if it was up to them). But since OUAT is a long running show, abc will tell A&E in advance. Tha fans won’t know it till towards the end of the season.
To sum it up, there is no question about season 6. There will be season 6. The question is which actors will continue to do the show.

Right, I guess what I meant was, they aren’t going to continue the show without Ginny, Josh, Robert and Emilie. That’s just not going to happen. And with LOST, they announced at the start of season 6, that it would it’s last, and as a result the ratings spiked a little. I expect ABC will do the same for OUAT.

While I could see the show continuing without Robert Carlyle, I couldn’t see it going on without Josh or Ginny. (For example, Rumple might just remain in the Underworld at the end of the season while Belle’s happy ending is becoming a new mom and raising Rumple’s child). Even though Snow White and Charming have been sidelined, they’re still essential to A&E’s vision of what Happily Ever After looks like for Emma and Henry. I don’t think the show would go on without them.

Well exactly. Those two started it all. They should have a big hand in how the show finishes.

I believe it was a standard 2yr then 3 yr for most everyone, apart from Bobby who got the 5 years *very* early on. Colin and Emilie are the odd ones since they came later (well, and Sean/Bex now but they might be year by year)

They announced the end of LOST waaaaaaaay before the start of 6.

Maybe in the pre-rebooted show. I don’t know..I think A and E would spin it so that Emma’s HEA is now just Henry/Hook and since she made peace with her parents, she can take over as the rightful queen of Charming’s kingdom and carry on their legacy as part of her HEA.

Agreed. If Josh and Ginny decided not to renew their contracts, I think A&E would be hard-pressed to end the show. I hear that Ginny is expecting her second child, which does leave a question in my mind as to whether she’d continue to work full time with two small children at home. I could see her stepping down as a series regular while Josh continues to work full time. She might just become a reappearing guest star or something (or else have fewer scenes like she did in S3b).

I can’t blame her. They really didn’t handle their characters very well. They were pretty much background characters in 4A and 5A, and when they had something for them in 4B, they retconned their backstory and assassinated the characters.

I could see that. Ginny-as-Snow barely has the work she used to have. The Snowing flashbacks now are more Charming centric (Siege Perilous) or don’t have running around the woods like they used to and her present day stuff is usually one scene with Josh or Lana in which she spouts some lines and then goes away. even her up coming 513 centric is Baliee not Ginny in the flashback..
Ginny has been done (at least that how she presents herself in interviews) for awhile now.
