ParticipantI don’t know who that is. Who’s Henry?! Henry Henry Henry. I can’t stand how the show has dismissed him as relevant to Emma’s story. HE broke her walls. HE was the one who really changed her heart. It wasn’t Neal. It wasn’t Hook. To lesser extents, yes, we can talk about MM and the grand town of SB and its inhabitants who adopted the little orphan girl…BUT IT WAS HENRY. HENRY.
They really need to go back to this. even I can see that Hook was shoved down our throats and Henry has been put by the wayside, even though it was Henry who “saved” Emma.
THIS! THIS ^ ALLL THISSSSSSSSS!.

ParticipantSo do I. But I’ve been of the opinion that the writers don’t read/watch other writers work for awhile now. Hence why the show feels so bipolar on every character.
I have this fantasy about CS that what’s happening is that the writers, when they get stuck, go to Jane Espensen, and here’s what happens:
Person writing CS at a given moment: Jane! I’m stuck with writing my CS scene. Adam and Eddy told me to make it romantic. What should I do? Give me an idea!
Jane *smiles*: How about something… hmm, manly? Like, have Hook threaten to commit suicide if Emma doesn’t come to see him? Or, I know, have him give her some gruesome trophy that will signal his undying love.
Writer: *skeptically* I don’t know, Jane. Doesn’t that sound a bit… messed up?
Jane: *barely containing a snigger* Not at all! It’s perfect! They audience will love it!
Writer: Oh, ok. *walks off*
Jane: *takes a swig of Tequila* I will destroy you all yet… *nuykh nuykh nuykh*
I want the show to end with Emma waking up in NYC with Henry and Neal, S3B-present being a bad dream.
I endorse this 100%

This is pretty much the only way I’m going to accept that the same woman who wrote “Skin Deep” also wrote some of the latest episodes and CS drivel

ParticipantI don’t get this Jane CS thing you’re talking about, from what I recall Jane barely wrote CS episodes and the scenes in the episode she wrote weren’t that terrible. There was the scene that he regretted the way he treated Rumple, which would have been great if he acted upon his regret. And the scene where he gave her the ring, which could have been great if the following episode didn’t tell us his rings are from people he killed (not written by Jane).

She wrote the CS scenes in Tallahassee; the other writer took the SF ones.
But other than that, it’s not that she necessarily writes the worst of the CS stuff, but her episodes in the past few years haven’t been Skin Deep worthy.
Like Jo already said, Warlord Bo Peep was fairly horrible.
I think with Jane, it’s more that if she’s voicing any opposition to what is happening in the writers room (and it never seems like she is based on some tweets and such) then it’s getting drowned out. I mean that fact that she didn’t turn to A and E and say, “Guys. This finale thing you’re trying to do…? Yeah, Joss did it already and he did it 100x better.” Or saying, “DO Clippy Rumple with hidden agendas plaguing someone with mixed morality? Would you like him to wear a red dress?” Or even just Jane trying to explain exactly why Spuffy was a better story because of how Buffy and Spike approached things during their relationship (ie: they both knew it was emotionally destructive) and how A and E are going down the opposite path with CS.
I guess to put it more succinctly: her silence speaks volumes (though I grant there’s only so much she can actually do not being the creator)

@Bar, we’re horsing around 😉 This isn’t meant to be taken seriously. But I take your point.
I’m picking on Jane because I am endlessly surprised and disappointed that a writer of her experience, who’s done really interesting and nuanced representations of relationships, whether on Buffy, on Battlestar G, or with Skin Deep, who has worked with George Lakoff (if you’re in a field that has anything remotely to do with linguistics, I cannot stress enough how huge this is), hasn’t taken the lot of them by the scruff of the neck and set them straight about how CS is coming off. I mean, this is a talented writer who also has a background in cognitive linguistics, and whose undergraduate mentor’s work on the relationship between language, conceptual systems, and perception is incredibly influential.
The only way to explain it is that she’s been steamrolled into getting on the CS bandwagon, and, for lack of being able to radically improve it, is now trying to sink it from the inside.

She doesnt have to write to support it, if u pay attention to the twiter of writers and crew menbers is pretty easy to see that all of them support CS, they are rude to other fans, they follow Cs fans, not to mention that Jane and the new writer dont hide they love CS and Hook and they Cs is the most amazing love story that ouat has. Also, with A&E also focus on the new show, there are people and is well known that Jane is their right arm, that she may also some saying on the story.

ParticipantI don’t mind you joking about that, I just wanted to know why. Well, I think there’s a reason why Jane episodes don’t have a lot of CS in them (except Tallahasse, but I don’t think she ment for Hook to be seen as a love interest), and writing the scene about Rumple in 503, maybe she hoped the writers won’t ignore that scene.
But according to what you say, I can’t help but think that by tweeting this: https://twitter.com/JaneEspenson/status/673745842117853185 she might have threw some shade at A&E.
