I think JMo is very self aware of the fact that SF was supposed to be Emma’s endgame; even if she sometimes comes across as being totally okay with CS. I think JMo gets very inside her character and so it’s hard to not emote more when she’s with MJR, the guy she knew was going to be her characters true love. I also think there’s a huge difference between how the actors understand their characters and display that understanding vs how the writers understand the characters and write those characters.

So, yes. JMo is a much better actor with MRJ and when it’s an emotional SF scene vs with Colin and it’s an emotional CS scene.

I don’t think they see any behavior as different. They don’t get how problematic the relationship between Emma and Hook has been written or they just don’t care.

And this to me is 100% spot on.

Friendly reminder that Neal and Emma will always love each other. #NoImNotOkay

Is this for real? Did OnceABC tweet a SwanFire scene with #ALLTHEFEELS?

LOL yes. It’s been a strange day. But for your sanity, I would suggest not reading any of the comments.

I agree completely. I definitely think Jennifer is completely aware that Swanfire is the real relationship on this show and that Hook is the afterthought. She has said she knew that Bae was Henry’s father since before the pilot was filmed. That is always how she played the relationships and while the writers may think that Emma and Hook is the same as Emma and Neal that is not even remotely how Jennifer views it. Jennifer has her head canon and how she views Emma and that view is informed greatly by Emma being in love with Neal for years, being angry, but still in love with him, not having a serious relationship since Neal for all those years, because she still thought about Neal. She still cares about him, she still wants to be with him, nothing about that changed during the ten years they were apart and it hasn’t changed now that Neal has died.

I think Emma and Hook had chemistry when they first met, as rivals and uneasy allies. It’s different from romantic chemistry. I liked them as Quark and Odo.

Quark and Odo might be the best comparison for those two I’ve ever heard. I adored Odo. Like, a lot a lot a lot.

I never liked Hook, certainly, but I could see his value in the story as another grey villain with a perspective that the heroes are sometimes forced to listen to. I used to think that Hook could be a cop with Emma, a partner in tracking down villains but it was always clear to me that Emma would never go home to him. They were drinking buddies, at most. Hook went home to his ship each night, because the sea/JR were his true loves and Emma went home to Neal.

Feel free to skip over this comment, since I know most people will say that this was the last time we’ll ever see Neal again; however, I’m no so certain. Many people also said we’d never see Neal again after 3×22, but then we saw him in 5×12. There are a couple of reasons why I’m speculating about the idea that this might not be the final time we’ll ever see Neal. The biggest reason is because Neal and Henry still haven’t gotten closure. I’m not saying they necessarily ever will, but 5×12 was the perfect time for Henry to see his dad again, but that didn’t happen. Also, it seems like Emma is just as in love with Neal as ever as much as he is with her. Just saying. The other thing is that the Neal-Emma scene in 5×12 just emphasized the contrast between their love that the selfish kind of “love” that Hook and Emma have. Maybe I’m just seeing things through shipper-glasses, but whenever we have a scene with Neal, it always seems intentional how unselfish and kind his love is in contrast to Emma/Hook’s unhealthy kind of selfish love that imperils them and everyone else. Neal still is looking out for Emma, because he loves her and always will. Neal only ever wished for Emma to be happy, even if it was without him. That is the purest kind of love there is. As many people have said, it seems like JMO and Neal especially play their characters that way, with the knowledge that their characters have true love. That is why the emotions and the acting choices seem so authentic and stand in stark contrast with the wooden way Emma quoted her father’s line of saying she’d always find Hook. It seems like Emma has really latched onto the idea of wanting the same kind of death-defying true love that her parents have. Yet, I think we know that the heart-splitting plan is doomed to fail, because Emma and Hook don’t share true love. To quote Neal, “Trust me on this. This won’t end the way you think it will.”

About the scene, Adam tweet explains it, they all jump to do it, bc of love and they knew that SF was supposed to be endgame, so they were more emotional about it. Also the words Adam used was the same title for 513 episode, and we can even see what Labor of love means:

“work done for the sake of one’s own enjoyment or of benefit to others rather than for material rewards”, which i can take from this, that they wanted a Sf scene more than Henry/Rumple/neal scene, bc that was more important to them, and that this was done, mostly for them and not so much ratings/fan service, but bc they wanted it, maybe to remind themselves what could have been.LoL.

This was Adam answer to Matt article I posted above

This scene was a labor of love for all involved. https://t.co/grYA6jMSBO
