KeymasterI don’t know if i have just never been as aware of a fandom as i have been of Ouat’s and their writers, but this show does that all the time in really rude and disrespectful ways. It is unimaginable to me what the writers are thinking when they do that.
I notice it in other shows but it’s extremely minor almost like the show is laughing WITH the fans as opposed to AT them. Like…”Arrow.” The characters in the show made a joke about a particularly unhelpful mask one of the main hero characters wear. The mask was designed poorly and can’t in anyway facilitate vigilante work. The fans all made of fun of it, and so the writers snuck in a line about how the mask needs updated to function better. Like the writers realized the mask was an error and something they could laugh at with the fans.

ParticipantYes exactly. As a die hard SF I can just skip CS stories. But I can’t just fast forward (well, during live viewing…) through the CS tv portions (because then I’d be left with only about 5 mins of “other” story….see what I did there?!)
Except there are some problems, in tumblr is easy to do for the “normal” fans not for the bully ones, but i can say that most of SF tag now, i full of hate by CSers fans, they have no problem in calling fans of other ships, in this case SF out, bc they say that Neal is dead and no one likes the character and he doesnt even has fans anymore, in fan fiction net or AO3 is not so much, bc u dont tag by ships( you can tho) u tag by characters that appear on the story, so a SF story may have Neal/Emma tag, but also have Regina, Hook, Snow, so yeah, unless the writer writes on the story description that is a SF story, those stories end getting lots of bad comments, although the writer of that story can decide to delete the bad comment on the story if they want and report, unless is as guest.

KeymasterThis fandom has always had a problem with tagging so that’s nothing new on Tumblr. And from what I’ve seen a nice portion of the fic out there says what ship it’s supporting. It’ll say “this is a CS story.” Or it’ll even say “CS at first, then goes SF/SQ.” And a lot of times it’s passive aggressive like, “This is predominately a CS story so if it’s not your thing, then you probably should’t read” because no one WANTS to be on the receiving end of hate.

ParticipantWe talked about fandom, here is an article:
http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/05/30/fandom-is-broken
This in the article:
It’s all about demanding what you want out of the story, believing that the story should be tailored to your individual needs, not the expression of the creators. These fans are treating stories like ordering at a restaurant – hold the pickles, please, and can I substitute kale for the lettuce? But that isn’t how art works, and that shouldn’t be how art lovers react to art. They shouldn’t be bringing a bucket of paint to the museum to take out some of the blue from those Picassos, you know?

KeymasterFun reminder that this is absolutely something they did in 5A (though, as usual, nothing came of it and there’s no commentary on from the writers themselves)

ParticipantIt is hard because i think the writers are that stupid. They have no idea what they are doing, in my opinion. Certainly not when it comes to “true love”.
