KeymasterSorry for your loss, Lisa
and thinking how neither one of them have had that carefree, happy existence since they were together. They need to get back to that place, and I believe they will. A day will come when present day SF will have one of those blissful, easy, happy, giggly moments, and please excuse me whilst I melt into a pile of mush just thinking about how sweet and beautiful that’s gonna be
I will join you in the mushy pile
And also, I wouldn’t be shocked by trolling. Who knows???!

I for one wouldn’t be that surprised if that is what is going on: narrative misdirection. As frustrating and irritating as it can be, there isn’t anything we can do except wait and see.

ParticipantI was just reading a 2000 Reader’s Digest interview of J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series. She reveals her aim as a writer is to trick, not con, which is just another way of saying misdirection.
“Potions, intrigue, magic and ‘what happens next’,” says Williams. “The same formula Shakespeare used.” Rowling may write about wizards, ghosts, elves and the hippogriff, which is half-horse, half-eagle, but her books are driven with all the suspense and twists of detective novels. Perhaps that’s why Harry is also hugely popular with adults. Stories of parents muscling in to read each new volume ahead of their children are common.
“I love a good whodunnit and my passion is plot construction. Readers loved to be tricked, but not conned,” Rowling says, warming to her theme. “The best twist ever in literature is in Jane Austen’s Emma. To me she is the target of perfection at which we shoot in vain.”
That’s an important lesson to take away. We don’t know for sure the final outcome until it actually happens, and even then, question everything. If there is one thing being a fan of Jane Austen’s novels, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes has taught me, it’s that we must look for the subtext to get the real gist.

Agreed. Authors use misdirect all the time. You think “A” is about to happen because it seems “obvious” but then the author subverts your expectations by showing how “B” was really intended all along.

ParticipantAlso, remember this quotation from Eddy Kitsis from the official ABC podcast.
“Seeing Emma say “I love you” to somebody was very powerful and to see that connection between the two of them was very powerful.” — Eddy Kitsis
Yes, Emma telling Neal she loves him is emotionally powerful. Yet, could Eddy also be hinting that their love is powerful in a literal sense? After all, Emma embodies true love, the most powerful magic of all, so one might be inclined to suspect her really loving someone might be enough to do something amazing and unexpected.

Goodness knows they’ve fake out death-ed us before. And look at S1 with Henry. She loved him so much that her TLK was enough not only to break a curse, but to bring Henry back.

ParticipantAlso, we have yet to find out more about Neal Cassidy’s life pre-Manhattan or to see the return of August, as both were hinted at in the TV Guide Lightning Round 10 and Lightning Round 9 with A&E. I don’t think we’re going to find out answers to those questions between episodes 3×12 – 3×18, which as far as we know, are not Neal-centric. I think we can therefore safely assume that a Neal-centric episode in the second half of S3 is still forthcoming and post 3-18.

KeymasterAgreed, Slurpeez! and would they really have a flashback of Neal and August without having Neal in the present day somehow? They don’t do that. The flashbacks always serve as parallels and it makes no sense to have a Neal flashback with August if nothing is happening to Neal in the present day
