Keymasterhere’s a thing to remember about media and promotion
they’re not promoting the show. they’re promoting their own website. they’re going to plug characters that get hits and cater to shippers that get hits. they’re going to tag those posts and play with the search engine optimization to draw in those fans because they’ll comment and they’ll share it excitedly.
and in turn, when ABC does promo, they’re catering not just to the vocal fans, but the media.
it’s smart in terms of creating buzz (that doesn’t necessarily translate to ratings, but does translate to web ad revenue and wow dorky tangent sorry!) but. it sucks. literally none of my favorite characters are ones that are pandered to (even though my absolute fave is one half of a pandered to ship, the focus on her is in regards to a ship i don’t ship). that’s really freaking annoying as a fan.
idk there’s no real point to this i guess, but i know a lot of people are upset and frustrated, so it might help to just keep in mind that it’s the business of television and it’s biased as heck and it’s REALLY easy to blow an aspect of the show out of proportion when the viewers don’t have context.

(edited for some language issues)Makes sense to me. It’s all about the Benjamins.

ParticipantI was thinking about why I distrust Hook still. Suddenly, he’s supposedly now Prince Charming 2.0, but I’m not really buying it. It’s probably because we were conditioned since S2 to think of him as a ruffian, underhanded, flip-flopping, wet-noodled pirate. Then in S3, Hook popped out the other side of a bean-hole a “reformed” and “honorable” man, as if by magic he had changed his character completley. Excuse me for being dubious about this inexplicable and rushed character development. Yes, we’re supposed to see “Killian” as the anti-hero in 3×12 (the center of an episode which was supposedly all about Emma), but that doesn’t sit well with me, not because I don’t think people don’t really change for the better, but I don’t think they can change that fast and have it be lasting. Just look at Regina in S2. She told Henry she wanted to be the kind of mother he wanted, yet as soon as Cora came calling, Regina relapsed into her old Evil Queen ways. I still have this nagging notion that Hook being in NYC, rather than Neal, is the result of some plotting, pirating, underhanded scheme that we won’t really learning about right away. Remember Barbara said the “hows” and “whens” Hook makes it to NYC aren’t made clear in 3×12. But we also got hints that the infamous Blackbeard may be inculcated before all is said and done. How exactly does this “pirate’s pirate” tie into Hook’s story, and just how did Hook get to our world and how does he remember everything? These are the sorts of things I’m interested in knowing. And remember the spoiler that Hook doesn’t like being fed baloney in jail? Well, I’m suggesting Hook’s reformation is well, a bunch of baloney. Hook, the pirate who’d make a deal with Cora, who once worked for Peter Pan. If I didn’t know any better (which we do), then I’d say that Hook might’ve made a shady deal or two along the way to get to NYC.

KeymasterThe “how” part of Hook’s journey to NYC better be explained before 316 because that’s a giant hole if they leave it. I’m really surprised we don’t get an answer in 312, because it’s the perfect place to give one. I don’t know if he’s working with the WWW. Desperate souls do desperate things, and both Hook and Neal seem desperate in 312, according to screeners, so I could see Hook making a deal out of desperation but like a non shipper pointed out somewhere else, so could Neal. BUT the fact that the “how” is being left open is interesting. It should mean that they story is yet to come and will be explored further.

Awww, I needed that today. Thanks RG. 🙂
BTW-If someone who has better access to online things than I do at work right now could post the promo shots of Neal (especially the bedroom eyes one), I think seeing those would be very therapeutic to all us SF fans right now. 😉
