Happy SwanFire thought of the day: I was thinking about how Neal and Emma have been dancing around the issue of what they are to each other in the present day. Are they simply co-parents? Are they just friends? Are they something more? Remember in 3×1 and Neal couldn’t quite fill in the blank when asked who Emma was to him. “She’s my, she’s my, I don’t know!” And again in 3×9 when Regina told Emma she had everything, “You have this person,” meaning Neal. I think  this uncertainty has been built up purposefully, because by the season’s end, we’ll have the answer. Emma and Neal are each other’s true love. 😀

I agree. If they wanted to firmly establish SF as “just friends” or “lovers in the past but no more” they wouldn’t dance around it.

I was thinking in trying to trend next saturday something for mRJ to know that like he has our backs we also have his. This is not OUAT related, at least diretly, just something for the actor, because of all the crazy, rude comments, especially from fans and paps and the fact that the media keeps forgeting about him.

I find the notion that magic-less Hook would go up against the magical Wicked Witch solo (without Regina or Emma’s magic as backup) to save his former nemesis, Rumple, really unbelievable. Hook may begrudgingly tolerate the Crocodile, but he’s not about to risk his own neck to save the dark one. That sounds like a theory that people who love his character put forward because they long for Hook to be a protagonist. Yet, just the other day, Adam tweeted that Hook is a flawed character. Just because he’s made strides towards redemption, it doesn’t mean he’s redeemed. He has yet to make any great sacrifice the way Rumple and Regina did in 3×11. Also, Regina relapsed into her Evil Queen ways in S2, and so might Hook relapse into his pirating ways in S3. Which is why I’m maintaining that Hook is secretly allied with Zelena. I agree with Phee, that in the end, Hook could regret this alliance and do the right thing though.

Hook is his worst enemy, but I bet when push comes to shove, we will see Hook break free from Zelena’s grip and help defeat her.

I am speculating that A & E is developing Hook’s character by mirroring his redemption ala Regina and Rumple.

Rumples redemption was the most poignant. When Rumple made that fatal decision to stab the old man/dark one, he was engulfed in a vortex of revenge and regrets….a portal….. for the dark one to enter another desperate soul to continue its evilness.

A surge of omnipotence consumed Rumple – it was seductive. This makes for a Greek tragedy…only…..it is American Fairytale Style.

….A GOOD MAN IS CORRUPTED BY POWER………

……LOVE IS THE ONLY ANTIDOTE….

Being LOVED is an important catalyst for redemption….BUT ….

….it   is Rumple’s ACCEPTANCE of his true nature…..LOVE….that  releases the dark ones grip, allowing Rumple to courageously sacrifice himself for the ones he loves – Baelfire and Belle.

Heroism and sacrifice go hand in hand. You must give up something  for the betterment of those you love without expecting anything in return. Rumple gives up his life to save Belle and Baelfire, knowing that he will “die.” Regina gives up her only child, the thing she loves most, in order to protect a town full of people from being cursed once more. This is heroism.

Hook gave up his revenge, yes, but I’m not going to applaud giving up 300 years of attempted murder. That’s the *right* thing to do, not a sacrifice. So for me, personally, Hook has dome some heroic things but he hasn’t crossed that line into heroism.
