I feel so sad for Emma, too, knowing that she got to live her dream for a year, only to be rudely awakened by Hook. Poor Emma really thinks as the savior she’ll never have that dream again. I think S3b is about Emma realizing what home means to her, learning to fight for that dream, and again discovering that Neal is the one who best completes her dream of home-life, family, and togetherness. Likewise, I think Neal is on a parallel journey of fighting for his second chance with his boy and Emma.
Agreed, my heart broke a lot for Emma this episode. But at the same time, it really emphasizes a lot of what we’ve been saying FOREVER now. We’ve always said that Emma’s dream isn’t being a pirate or a warrior; it’s being a mom. She wants the white picket fence and stability. And she and Neal want the same things which makes my heart ever so happy.

Here is another small parallel I thought of Emma had her baby blankets as keepsake from her past. Rumple had Bae’s shawl as keepsake of his son’s past. A baby blanket and shawl. The little things.
