    @Elizabeth_R

    Frankly, I’m already hanging onto the show by a thread, mostly due to watching Neal overcome obstacle after obstacle that’s been thrown his way. To see him killed off would be a huge blow to me. To see him killed off without any resolution to his arc, well, OUAT would lose me as a viewer. I would probably still watch but I won’t be as enthusiastic as I once was, or catch it every Sunday. This depends on the direction of the story

    Neal, who’s had crap thrown at him through no fault of his own, just die without an ounce of feeling loved or having his son by his side, would be incredibly sad and a slap in the face of A&E always totting on and on about HOPE. What they failed to mention was that hope was only reserved for the selected few. I’m not one who shares people’s enthusiasm for Hook, Rumple, and Regina. Yes they are dynamic, but I feel like they’ve had enough second chances at life and love, after choosing to commit evil. If I had my way I would have had them executed already. If I wanted to watch villains always getting the upper hand, I’d watch Game of Thrones. At least they have logical reasoning for their deeds. To constantly see the villains flip flop and the naïve good guys giving them chance after chance, is really sending a bad message, that I can’t be a part of. That it’s alright to commit one evil act and repent later, since there will be no consequences. And then to see doing the right thing gets you killed in the end, just makes my stomach turn, at what society views as important. And yes I do understand that good guys don’t always get happy endings, but at the end of the day, some of the “common” folks like me need a little ray of hope in their lives, and that’s why I turn to watching OUAT. To see that you don’t have to be the most handsome, or smart, or cunning to have happiness in your life.

    I agree with the above posters. (Especially Artseediva on CS.) It would make me look at the show in an entirely different way, and I’m not so sure that way will be something I want to continue to follow.

    I like the sense of hope that has always pervaded OUAT. That would stomp it into the dust for me. Would I continue to watch? Maybe for story purposes. But I wouldn’t care as much and that probably means I’d just … drift away.

    All right, tried to do spoiler tags. No luck. 😛 What am I doing wrong?

    Also, I hate to bring “the other ship” into it, but to me, the popularity of Hook just embodies the whole “style over substance” thing. OK, he’s hot. He’s also arrogant and has done some really rotten things that he’s never paid for. (Whereas Neal has done nothing BUT pay.)

    I wouldn’t mind his story so much if people didn’t automatically assume he’d “get the girl.” Solely because he’s attractive and wants her, apparently. Really makes my stomach churn.

    If THAT wins out over Swanfire … ehhhh …

    Your post is okay because there aren’t any spoilers in it, per se.

    But in the future: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/forum-help/ this should help you out

    It’s interesting, I enjoyed Hook a lot more in this past episode than I did in all of S3A. And when I rewatched I realized it’s because he sorta went back to being ACTUAL Captain Hook–snarky, sassy pirate. Not a guy making moon eyes at Emma. That’s the Captain Hook I like–saucy and sarcastic with a flair for speeches. To me Emma and Hook should be a BROTP, best friends who yell and snip at each other and solve crimes. They go out for a beer afterwards, Hook goes home with the bar maid and Emma goes home to Neal.

    I agree that raw chemistry does not a ship make. If every two people who had chemistry together on screen got together then Destiel and JohnLock would be canon instead of Fanon.

    But my biggest issue is if CS ends up being endgame and Neal dies. Have CS be end game if you want, A and E, it doesn’t change how I feel about SF and Neal. But to have Neal die and then make CS be end game…..leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Henry shouldn’t have to loose his father, period.

    I agree! I think if they just … let Hook be Hook … the character could really grow on me.

    Oh, I would watch that show! 😀
