ParticipantQuestion- When did you guys start shipping Swanfire- for me it was the bar scene in Manhattan
Seriously, it was “Desperate Souls” that started it for me and “The Return” that cemented the ship. Long before we ever even actually saw an adult Bae on screen. It was my season one crackship. We had a missing father and a missing son so, of course, they had to be the same person. Then how she talked in “True North” showed that she wasn’t completely over her ex and there was more to the story than what she told Mary Margaret or Henry. How poetic would it be that the reason for the curse and the savior somehow found each other and had Henry. They were destined. And so I began shipping Swanfire hard and haven’t been swayed. Not by any swarthy pirate nor wooden man.

ParticipantI did not start out as a clear-cut fan of Swanfire, though I was always intrigued by the mystery of who Baelfire would be as well as who Henry’s father would be. As early as S1, I was an advocate of the theory that they were the same person. Yet, I was fleetingly interested in Hook as a potential suitor for Emma to begin with, but I soon got over that by the way he mistreated the women in “The Queen of Hearts.” I rechecked some of my earlier postings in 2×6 and I was reminded that even then I noticed the love Neal and Emma had was genuine but sadly cut short. It was clear by 2×14 that they still had a deeply held love for one another, and I saw that as the mark of their love being real: it’s lasting and abiding. By 3×21, I was in tears when Emma confessed her love and need for Neal, which is when I created this thread to see if there were other fans who shared my enthusiasm for Emma and Neal to reunite eventually. I always knew it was going to be a slow-burn relationship, but I see it as the real thing.

[x] I think this is a highly meaningful moment, and very much a foreshadowing of what’s to come. Emma has always been looking for home, and the first person who ever made her feel like she was almost there was Neal. Their dream was not of a fairytale ending; their dream was just a normal, happy life. It didn’t matter to Neal and Emma if they ended up in Canada or Florida, so long as they were together. They just wanted to retire the Bonnie-and-Clyde act, to get a real place, and to have a home-life together. When you listen to A&E talk on the official podcast for 2×6, they bring up exactly what I just mentioned, that Emma and Neal were just stealing to survive but that their real dream is what most people take for granted: real jobs, a place to hang your hat at night, and family. Now we have Emma “Going Home” to New York City because of a “fire.” Even when she’s cursed, Emma can’t avoid making the same decisions Neal does, because Emma’s home is wherever Neal’s home is.

ParticipantMy manager is unfortunately back in the office for a while so I can’t post much here but I did get some random SwanFire feels this morning while working on a big report. I had to look up information for some hospitals in Phoenix and Tallahassee. 😉 (Someone please embed the attached pic since I can’t do it myself right now, LOL)

^^^This!!! I think Swanfire teaches an important lesson in finding home with the person you love. Doesn’t matter where, as long you’re together. Doesn’t have to be some grand adventure. It can be as simple as having a job and a person you love to come home to. It’s all about what’s most important to you in life. Their road is long and arduous, but the fact that they held on to their love for 11 years, even through the hurt and pain, speaks volumes and why I can’t see them being with anybody else but with each other. They want the same exact thing.
I love that A&E said their real dream is what most people take for granted. And I think that it’s a beautiful lesson the teach people where a lot of people nowadays DO take a lot of the simple things for granted and get caught up in unnecessary overindulgence. To throw that beautiful message away would be such a waste. *cries* 🙁 A&E don’t let me down!March 20, 2014 at 11:36 am #254373RumplesGirl

Which is *exactly* what Emma wants. She doesn’t want to have adventures and fight monsters. She just wants a life with her son and someone she loves *cough* Neal *cough*
