I was listening to another podcast just before and they speculated that maybe Zelena would want Emma’s heart, because it’s so powerful.
That led me to think of how Hook went after Belle because that’s where Rumple kept his heart. If Zelena’s been getting info from Rumple, and so knows that Emma loves Neal, (because Rumple ships it like WHOA), then maybe Zelena would go after Neal’s heart as a means of gaining control over Emma’s heart? Emma’s heart can’t be taken, so if someone wants to get at it, they’ve gotta take the scenic route.
Zelena probably doesn’t grasp the parent/child true love thing given her upbringing and her chip on her shoulder over having been given up, so she wouldn’t think of going through Henry to get to Emmma. But assuming Zelena has a lost love somewhere in her past, (let’s face it, she’s totally gonna), Emma’s romantic love would be the course of action Zelena would think of taking, to get to her heart, and that makes Neal her target.

I agree that it would be epic if the way to Emma’s heart is via Neal. However, it still seems too soon for such a big reveal. I suspect we won’t have confirmation of who Emma’s true love is (other than Henry) until the s3 finale. Otherwise, it would be too risky to viewership. Incidentally, that is another reason why it makes absolutely NO sense for the spoiler of doom to happen before the season finale. Kill off one of Emma’s suitors for good this early and the writers risk losing a lot of momentum, suspense and reason to watch the show. There are too many balls up in the air; drop one and you can’t continue the juggling act until the last episode of the season when it’s finally time for the last act.

I agree that I don’t think we’ll know who Emma’s true love is until the finale and I really do think we’ll get confirmation of it. Remember the Lightning Round questions from A&E a while back? One of them was if we’ll find out who Emma’s true love is and their answer was “Can’t say” which is usually code words for ‘Yes”. I think a lot of this arc is going to be Emma not only figuring out what home means to her but figuring out who exactly fits into her home too (obviously her family but I think she’ll figure out that it includes Neal too). I think we’ll have a better idea of how this season is going to go (especially with the WWs endgame which is SUCH a mystery right now) after the next two episodes and I whole heartedly agree that Neal can’t be the spoiler of doom if they’re going to reveal Emma’s true love at the end of the season. It would be really stupid to get rid of either of them before the finale, especially with the BIG PICTURE story not even revealed to us yet, so I honestly don’t think that’s even going to happen until the finale. A&E like to write the BIGÂ moment (aka, death)Â scenes for this show and they wrote the finale so I’m about 99.5% sure the spoiler of doom is in the S3 finale.
