The synopsis for 3×15 seems to indicate that Neal is not the one who freed Rumple from the jail cell.
Quiet Minds” – Neal finds himself back in Storybrooke and yearns for a way to reconnect with his son Henry, whose memories of his father are gone, while also trying to find his own father, Rumplestiltskin, whom he has just learned is alive but missing, and Regina discovers a possible connection with Robin Hood. Meanwhile, in the Fairy Tale Land that was over the past year, agonizing over the death of his father, Neal – with the help of Belle and enchanted candelabra Lumiere – attempts to find a magical solution to bring back Rumplestiltskin from the dead,
It sounds to me like Neal shows up in SB but doesn’t have his memories of the previous year in tact; otherwise, he’d remember going with Belle to try and bring Rumple back to life. It’s news to him that not only is his dad alive, but that he’s gone missing. The likeliest thing is that Neal learns his dad is alive from a knowledgeable source: Regina, David, Hook or Emma. That must mean Neal is not the one who freed him, since he even know hid dad was missing.

ParticipantIt’s insane that we have all these awesome head canons going on right now, most of which could easily be right and what actually happens, and then we’re gonna watch the show on Sunday night and every single one of us will probably be wrong, LOL 😆

KeymasterSince ya’ll were discussing Emma as a possible placeholder for the Tin Man earlier. Curious that both feature our Lion, a Winged Monkey attack, and a distressed man who needs to be placed “back together again”.

ParticipantEmma as the tin man, Cowardly Lion is Charming, Rumple as the scarecrow , Neat, I can accept Neal as Dorothy and Henry as toto. LOL

ParticipantRumplesGirl: There is one aspect of the Sneak peek that is pretty positive. Emma wants to go back to NYC. Now of course she *wont* in the end because Henry will get his memories back, but she is yearning for that quiet life away from the crazy. Despite having her memories back, she still wants to that dream life she had. Just a mother and her kid, playing video games and eating fruit roll ups. Life is not a series of swashbuckling adventures for Emma, unlike Hook. More confirmation that what Emma really wants his peace and quiet, not to go off sailing and fighting giants, pirates, polar bears and whatever else.
Good point, RG. It’s like we SF fans have been maintaining all along. Emma and Neal don’t dream of a fairytale ending full of grandiose adventure. They both dream of a normal, happy life like getting a good job, settling down, and just being together. By contrast, last week Hook even said that every time he and Emma are together, they’re usually trekking through a forest. Yet, this week, Emma tells David wistfully that she a week ago she was chilling with her kid. It’s plain to see that Emma doesn’t covet Hook’s swashbuckling adventures. Emma’s idea of a happy ending is settling down in the city and making a home…sounds much like the life Neal had doesn’t it?
