ParticipantShowrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz opened up about the love triangle’s remaining relationship and where it might be headed, prepare yourself for disappointment — Horowitz told E!:
“Their relationship is continuing to develop and grow, but right now, both of them are embroiled in something beyond romance. So while they’re dealing with any feelings they may or may not have for one another, the stakes are raised so high now.”Ok sooo exactly what he said during NL. Okay.
Also, extremely true. Emma just watched her first love and the father of her child die — there’s no way she’s going to rush into anything romantic right away, even if his death was somewhat heroic. Because like Kitsis said, she’s always had walls up and between flying-monkey-guy and Neal biting the dust, they’re at least 50-75 feet higher than they were before. Good luck climbing over those, Hook — but perhaps we’re underestimating their connection.
Yeah, that happened in 2×21 too, so…
Hook is a changed man and although he didn’t feel remorse going after Emma in Neverland, he may very well feel remorse now for going after a dead-man’s girl. Especially since he saved Neal’s life way back when and still feels that brotherly/fatherly love for him.
But that’s exactly what he did in NL… went after a dead man’s girl… their words not mine. And… if you save someone’s life just to put it intentionally in danger again and not even care if the person dies… does that still count?
OUAT’s love triangle might be over (or rather, simplified), but Neal’s shadow is going to hang over Hook and Emma for long enough to prevent them from ‘shipping anytime soon.
So basically 2×21-3×11 didn’t happen. Exactly what Quiet Minds was trying to tell us.

ParticipantI was just reading an interview with A&E. It pretty much confirms what we’ve all been saying. 3×11 was indeed a “reset button” and a total break with the initial direction the show was going in. Time will tell if it pays off or backfires.
ASSIGNMENT X: You’d already done one huge reset at the end of Season 1, with everyone getting their memories back. What made you feel like you wanted to do another reset so soon?
ADAM HOROWITZ: It’s hard to answer that in a lot of ways without you seeing the second half [of Season 3], but for us, I think that there was a certain sense of, we wanted to kind of end one chapter and start another.
EDWARD KITSIS: Yeah, we wanted to keep the show moving forward and the challenge is to make the show feel like the same show, but different and exciting in a new way, and that’s what we’re endeavoring to do.
HOROWITZ: And we had an idea that we loved for the second half, and we just went for it. To us, usually, the scary decisions are the ones that either you’re going to fall flat on your face or you’re going to hit a home run. Like we ended the curse Season 1, and people were like, “What the hell?” So …
KITSIS: And one of our goals was, we knew the first half of the season was going to be primarily set in Neverland, and we wanted to do a second half of the season that was radically different.
HOROWITZ: Really like two different seasons.
KITSIS: Right. And so when you see what we have in store for the second half, the vibe, the feel, the storytelling and the tone is very different. Same characters, same show and all that, but we’re attacking it from a completely different direction.
So 3×11 was certainly the close of one chapter (SF) and the start of another (CS). It’s like they totally swept the character development from 2×21-3×11 under the rug. Time will tell if they made the right decision or not. MRJ’s words to describe it were “bold” but that could be code for “audacious” …which you know has two meanings. it can mean either 1) showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks or 2) showing an imprudent lack of respect.

ParticipantAX: Was there ever any possibility of Emma not getting her memory back?
HOROWITZ: One of Emma’s core themes was finding her parents, and she found them, and it would be a shame if everything we built for fifty-some episodes went away.
KITSIS: We didn’t want to have all that disappear.
SO, it’s a shame if they do that to Emma, but they totally did it for Bae. Okay. That’s EXACTLY what they did to him. A and E just pretty much said what we’ve been saying!

ParticipantHi im here again, i dont even know what to say, so i give congrats over more than 1000 pages, or o cry for the reason that in 3 days we got more than 100 pages.
I keep thinking and still nothing makes sense, the bad writing, the fact that A/E didnt write it themselves, the disrespect , please, you didnt died like on the last year, bc you live inside your dead body, wonder when they were on the writers room, if they gain some price for this death idea.
What upsets me the most is that now A/E are saying that, this was always meant to be his end, so no longer was decision from S2/S3, was from the beginning, can i please stop to go vomit, are they joking, i still wonder what MRJ and RC , thought when they saw this script, i dont even speak of the other actors.
The more i see it the epi was like rush in a way, @rainbow said some pages ago, like we dont want to work with you anymore , you also dont want to work with us anymore, let get this done and be over it.
I even remenber of MRJ after the premiere, that he would be surprise if the boys would make neal some wizard addicted to magic, or something like this. I thought they prepared the death from beg season 3, this all makes no sense, i can say that now beside sad, and most angry, i need anwsers and real ones, not the crap they been saying on media, and where is the interview with MRJ, so a regular cast menber leaves and only the writers speak? where is MRJ interview, where are the other actors interviews, about how this death will after the other characters, were are the tributes, or words from ABC and the cast to MRJ? this is all wrong.
The lack of respect toward neal fans and SF now named haters, and i must say the barin wash is so big, that even some fans that were sad , say that after seing A/E interviews, are stating to feel better, bc now they look at it and the end was fitting, what is this?
I have to say that the words hope and the trend thing is stuck with me so bad, that i cannot even express myself.
I know that some people still hope that neal will be brought back to live on the end of the season, and the big plot for S4 is to bring back neal, i have to say i feel sorry for this persons, they will suffer, they say that the credits still have mRJ, although i said that probably will be like Meghan, like in credits until the season ends, or not, since he is dead. I dont believe they go that way , that would be the most stupid thing, so they lie to the media and to the fans and bring him back again. they said there goodbyes, unless they see the rating droping and make a new theme for S4.
Can i also say that although i dont think they will bring him back, especially bc some people on the chat think that WW wants to bring cora, i want Rumple to try to bring Neal even if he is buried( guess a preservation spell could explain that, they did it with daniel) but i think will be very OC that rumple acepts this, but from the end i guess i was already accepting, he just wanted revenge for his son, not trying to find a way to bring him back.
I guess that in the middle of the fight, they will all forget about Neal and all move on. Still dont get why Adam said like some few weeks agio that he talked about neal every day on the writers room, so waht they going to make every character say we will do this for neal? with the rumours of a cs kiss on 320, i guess that hook and emma will kiss for neal memory, if this is true.
Well i will leave for now, come back later.

ParticipantThis is what I imagine was going through Emma’s head along with other things when Neal was dying…thought I’d share it with you guys.
Let’s start over again
Why can’t we start it over again?
Just let us start it over again
And we’ll be good
This time we’ll get it, get it right
It’s our last chance to forgive ourselves

ParticipantThe more I read A&E’s interview the more I want to hurl something at them (Sorry I’m not usually violent). What A&E said about it being their “vision” is total baloney. The writing for Quiet Minds was just pure crap. Many people can see it was obviously a rushed, tacked on episode like what they did to August’s reset when the actor has other commitments. No build up whatsoever and now they have the gall to say they planned the death and they are ending a chapter (AKA reset on the whole Neal/Baelfire story to forget he ever existed) Excuse me? None of 3A look like the death was “planned” I clearly remember they scrapped the deleted scene of Rumple’s father running away from him as a child and decided to make Peter Pan Rumple’s father. They clearly wrote and shot the scene in the middle of season 2 and decided to scrap the idea at the last moment. Pan being Rumple’s father was definitely not planned that far in advance. I can see it being the case for Neal’s death too.
All of Neal’s lines were about getting second chances and Emma constantly lamenting over Neal. Which lead audience to believe they were going to do more with their story. I really think they wrote themselves into a corner and found that a majority of the audience did not resonate with Neal’s character as they had hoped and that MRJ was less then please with his character’s screentime and unpopularity, not to mention the hate he gets. The more they try to feed us the “Bold writing” statements the more I feel like it was a cover up and MRJ and A&E decided to go their separate ways.April 2, 2014 at 3:19 pm #258443Phee

WORD! Infuriating to see them saying that huh.
Speaking of infuriating, at the very real risk of being infuriatingly optimistic, they’re shooting for the finale at the well with the magic water that returns lost stuff, including people. Granted it could be for any number of things, but I’m just over here yelling out SHENANIGANS about everything already, so can’t help myself.

There was an interview with one of the writers who said that PP being Rumple's father was thought up in a writing camp before S3.
So yeah, they didn't plan that at all

"you gotta understand, this is my second chance."
"Emma and my boy, they're all I have"
"This isn't over. I'll see both of you again"
And then somehow we got to "it doesn't matter" that he never saw Henry
