Don’t know what happened to your post, but, I know who Bill the Cat is.
Don’t see the resemblence to Neal, though…lol.
The fact that Emma/Hook is popular is probably because all the fangirls love Hook because he’s ‘pretty‘.
I think his character is a shallow womanizer with a ‘God’s gift to woman’ attitude.
Players like him are a dime a dozen and I would hope Emma would be smart enough to see through his ‘I’ll flirt with you, make you giggle like a schoolgirl and make you feel beautiful as long as it gets me what I want’ act.
He flirted with Emma, but he also flirted with Snow and Cora – who’s old enough to be his mother, for gods’ sakes!
Anyway, I tend to keep my mouth shut, so as not to offend any Hook/Emma fans, but, I figure I’m just as entitled to my opinion, especially since, no matter what topic I go in, they all seem to be about Hook.
To me, OUAT has more depth than who is dating who. It’s not a soap opera, or a show like ‘Pretty Little Liars’, etc. (which I don’t watch)
The inclusion of classic liturature & film, Mythology, LOST nods, Stephen King nods, the significance of names (Neal Cassady, imparticular)………brilliant.
K&H are brilliant. I’ve loved them since their days on LOST.[adrotate group="5"]December 26, 2012 at 11:03 am #166312sarah_tnParticipant@Gypsy wrote:

….I thought that was unnecessarily cheap and nasty, so I removed it.

K&H are brilliant. I’ve loved them since their days on LOST.The reason people talk about one character more than another, is because it’s what people want to talk about. If that makes you uncomfortable, it’s not anybody’s fault. As for whether Hook is a womanizer: That is a matter up for debate but if you don’t want people talking too much about Hook, then don’t goad that conversation onward. Case in point: That Wetpaint.com poll somebody mentioned shows a preference toward Hook at over 50%, versus Neal at just below 10%. There is a reason why.
Of course he was flirting with the women. He isn’t dating any of them (at least, not yet). There are some people who have taken to an idea that men are evil, if they act like men. That really bothers me.
December 26, 2012 at 1:03 pm #166315gypsyParticipantI was stating my opinion, not goading anything.
I didn’t say I don’t want ppl talking about Hook, I said he’s in every topic….whether it’s about Hook or not (even though there are multiple threads about Hook) so, kinda hard to avoid.
I know Hook and Emma are not dating…I didn’t say they were.
As for the poll….yes, there is a reason for it.
@Sarah_TN – oops….sorry I mentioned that, then…I didn’t think your post was nasty, I thought it was kinda funny 🙂December 26, 2012 at 1:42 pm #166316antbeeParticipant@Gypsy wrote:

As for the poll….yes, there is a reason for it.Yes, Internet polls don’t really mean much because of how they can be manipulated. Plus, the majority of people that watch the show are casual viewers meaning that they watch it every week, but they don’t read/write/vote/tweet/Facebook/etc. about the show on the Internet. It’s the Snakes on the Plane phenomenon all over again when people give too much weight to how much people on the Internet love something. Many in the media overestimated that movie being a big hit, but it was only a modest hit. It happens time and time again when something that is popular on the Internet doesn’t translate well to the general public.
With all that being said, I wouldn’t even classify Hook or Captain Swan really being that popular on the Internet like say Grumpy Cat is now or the house that has the Christmas lights synchronized to Psy’s “Gangnam Style” because those are Internet phenomenon that have crossed over into the mainstream media through newspaper articles or being featured in clips on the news or in commercials.
It all depends on what site is visited. For instance, at Television Without Pity, an Internet site that has crossed over into the mainstream media by being featured on shows like The West Wing or My Name Is Earl, there’s a very small number of Hookers and even smaller number of CaptainSwan shippers that post. Most of the OUaT posters there don’t ship Emma with anyone right now or feel that Emma doesn’t need to be paired up with anyone at all.
At IMDb, which is also what I consider a crossover site, it fluctuates depending on what’s happening on the show or what’s happening in spoilers. Right now a lot of regular posters there do not want Bae to be Neal because of the recent spoilers of Gold being in NYC, but they prefer Neal over Hook for Emma because of Hook’s treatment of women. Before “Queen of Hearts” and the back slapping of Belle scene, the Captain Swan and/or Hookers were definitely a lot more vocal, but after that scene, they’ve mostly disappeared or clammed up about Hook. However, I don’t really think that there’s one dominant Emma ship over there because there seems to be an equal number of SwanFire, CaptainSwan, SwanQueen, MadSwan, HuntedSwan, WoodenSwan, GoldenSwan, RedSwan, and LoneSwan shippers.
At this forum, I think there are probably an equal number of SwanFire/SwanThief shippers versus Captain Swan shippers along with a other posters that have other Emma ships. At FanForum.com, there’s more SwanThief fans, (they don’t call it SwanFire yet), then CaptainHook fans, there’s 62 names versus 53 names that are listed on the crew for each ship. At the Once Upon a Fan Site Forums, I would say that SwanQueen is still the most popular Emma ship.

I could make the same argument that Neal is more popular judging by the number of fans he has on any particular forum. On this forum, the IMDb boards and Fan Forum, Neal is quite popular. In fact, any forum that has a strong Rumpel fanbase also tends to have a strong Neal/Bae fanbase as well.
And the problem with polls is that in most, the site gives you the option of voting as many times as you want. There have been polls where I’ve voted for a particular character or couple more than 50 times. 😆

For those who don’t know what this is about, this is an illustration of how I feel about Neal. For some reason, he makes me think of Bill the Cat: http://beta.photobucket.com/images/bill%20the%20cat/?

It is a shame they can’t put up some kind of guard rails that make people only vote once. You’re right about that. If you can vote as many times as you want, you can’t really see the real results. That’s why the twitter search is more objective.
December 26, 2012 at 3:32 pm #166336PriceofMagicParticipantI think it would be interesting for Emma to have a relationship with someone who isn’t Neal/Bae or Hook.
Emma has baggage, mainly trust issues and Henry. Unlike the trust issues, Henry is never going to go away.
Hook does not seem the most family friendly of people. He stole a wife and mother away from a family because he wanted Milah, he didn’t care about Rumple or Bae. I can see him having issues with Henry because he only wants Emma and not her child.
The only thing I have against Neal/Bae and Emma getting together is that he is the father of her child therefore he must be her true love. That seems like too much of a fairytale cliche. Neal will always be a part of Emma’s life because of Henry so I would like to see them on good terms with each other. However, in the real world, lots of people have children together then fall out of love and have relationships with other people whilst still being on good terms with each other and sharing custody of the kids.
Emma’s and Neal’s relationship didn’t work out. World I like to see them try and give it another go? Yes. Do I want it to stick? No. I don’t want them to have a “true love” relationship based on the fact that he is Henry’s father. In my opinion it would be far more interesting if Emma met someone new, who loved her and Henry, eventhough Henry is not his biological son. It would create an interesting situation for Neal where Emma has met this great guy, yet Neal is worried that this new guy is taking his place in Henry’s life.
I guess what I’m trying to say is I’d like Emma to have a real world happy ending (not the rude one) rather than a fairytale happy ending.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixDecember 26, 2012 at 3:52 pm #166340oncewatcherParticipantI like Sarah’s suggestion about a “bait-and-switch”. Wouldn’t it be just like the writers to keep us distracted all this time, and end up putting her with someone else? Maybe August? There’s also been talk about Graham coming back. Surprise (well, if that’s what they’ve had planned, then it wouldn’t be a surprise now)!
No, Hook was an associate to the wrong done when Milah left Rumpel. Still the same, that was Milah’s decision. She was the big wrong-doer there. Still the same, when he had the ability, Rumpel could have fought for her. Instead, he killed her. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
I just hope the show does work on redeeming Hook. It’d just be too shallow a story to leave him a bad guy. For what he has done wrong, let him learn his lessons about it, and tell us about the drama parallel to the development and evolution of who he is, and who he can become. That’s what will make things interesting; not a monotonous template.
