Yeah no, a show without Emma is not OUAT. Thankfully they know this which is why JMO is coming back for S7. As is Colin and Lana.
[adrotate group="5"]With the way Emma is currently acting, a season without her would be a good thing. However, I think because she’s been the main character for the past 6 seasons, season 7 needs her to tie everything together. It’s already risky without the other major characters, but to get rid of the character who is the “face” of the show would be an idiot move. Emma does need a major attitude adjustment in an improved direction though.
If the writers had any sense, they would end it at the end of this season.

I agree that OUAT without Emma isn’t really OUAT; but I also would say that applies to Snow and Charming and Regina and Rumple. We’re losing at least half of that! Don’t *do* this writers. This is something quite a few of us have touched on—end the show with dignity and don’t try to do a hard reboot in order to eek out 12-22 more episodes.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"I agree that the loss of Snow and Charming is also pretty unimaginable, but Snow hasn’t had a storyline since like Season 2 and Charming has an episode here and there, but it isn’t much. They don’t use them so if the actors want to go then let them go.
I still think Jennifer is most likely out, but we will see. I don’t care to be wrong. I am pretty sure she is done with the show, but she did say she would be willing to do one more season, but i think the producers want the show to go on as long as ABC will let them. Because of that, i am not sure that they can convince Jennifer that the show will end for sure after Season 7 because that is not the writers intend anymore. The writers have no ending in mind anymore. Because of that, i could see her being ready to just move on, especially since other actors are leaving too.

So budget cuts could be a factor in OUAT’s favor, which is what the Reaper had been predicting when he first heard about the contract negotiations. If we really are losing a chunk of the current cast, then that would definitely reduce the cost significantly.
Deadline is also optimistic about OUAT’s chances:

Huh. That’s interesting…. and unexpected. So Robert is staying? Well okay. With Regina, Emma, Rump, and Hook in the lead I think the show could keep enough viewers to last another season. Hopefully the final one regardless.
