There have been plenty of baddies to contend with over the past four years on Once Upon a Time, but in its fifth season there will be a new Dark One: Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison)—and EW has the exclusive first look at her transformation!

I wonder if this pose has anything to do with that behind the scene picture of her doing this same pose with the Apprentice and production team around her.
No to Regina being the Savior. I am amongst those who still feels her redemption came about too quick.

Not a fan of that jacket though, (apart from the collar, which is kinda cool). It looks cheap, like a relic from the 80s they found at an op-shop. Maybe it’s just because Rumple’s costume was so lush and decadent and textured, that this one is so plain and underwhelming to me by comparison? They shoulda made it out of leather textured to look like feathers (Crocodile had scales, Dark Swan should have plumage). Given it a few pops of dark red highlights, maybe. Something to bring it to life and add some variation to the overall look so it’s not just flat black and more flat black and more flat black.

July 3, 2015 at 1:59 pm #305765TheWatcherParticipantWell. She looks very Lady Gaga-ish. I mean, I think her hair should be down, and more wild and unruly. She look a bit too pale, i would have preferred she’d had green-gold skin. I mean…. I like it. It could be a tad bit better but i like it.
Really though, she looks like Gaga."I could have the giant duck as my steed!" --Daniel Radcliffe

Yes or no. This is from a promo shoot they specifically did back in April, and they don’t start filming the actual episodes til a few days from now.

I agree. I don’t mind Regina not being evil but she shouldn’t be a 100% hero. Regina is the one who does the things the other heroes can’t do. She shouldn’t be golden girl.

I agree. That outfit does not scream “Dark Emma” to me. It says “quick Emma is meant to be evil, lets just dress her in what ever black items we can find!”

I agree about the hair, it should be more wild not all prim and proper, it’s severe rather than evil. I don’t think her skin should be green-gold as I think the DO curse affects each host differently, plus Rumple was never green-gold in Storybrooke when he was the dark one. I’m not keen on that outfit for Emma, I would prefer her in something like this
but obviously in black and more plumage-y

July 3, 2015 at 6:30 pm #305773WickedRegalParticipantNot…Definetly not what I was expected. She looks more like a DC Superhero than the Dark One…..
I mean….she’s the Black Swan, so the black leather is good, but add a black feathered collar, or something. She should be to black feathers what Cruella was to her fur. Plus, the tidy hair just screams substitute teacher, where’s the unruly, wild hair with a dark hue….add some purple or black highlights for goodness sake!
What I expected:
What I got:
The female version of Batman. (Flips Tables)

July 3, 2015 at 6:59 pm #305774Jenna_BParticipantI very highly doubt this outfit is the Dark Swan outfit. 1. The shoot was in April. The writers hadn’t even reconvened at that point to start writing S5. 2. The OUAT costume dept wouldn’t be dressing Jen Morrison for an EW photo shoot/interview. This outfit is courtesy of EW, and merely their ‘take’ on Emma as the Dark One based on what was in their own closet. There is no way OUAT is going to have Emma go dark and not let the costume dept have a field day dressing her. Look at what they did for Snow as the Evil Queen, and that was one…two…episodes.
As for Regina as the ‘savior’….oh, I hope not. Even in the EF during the S4 finale, Regina wasn’t exactly the savior; she still needed Emma and Henry to push her in the right direction. I really hope saving Emma is a team effort, with a good dose of Henry included…but hopefully in the end Emma realizes the only one who saves Emma is Emma. (I love that line, I love the concept behind that line…)
Although….dang, Jen…that pose with them boots in the diner? That there is some serious strength and flexibility….!
