Given that it’s Once, and I -hate- to admit this, they could easily pull out a Magical Object That Proves Rumple’s Finally Good.
They could easily have Belle pull out the gauntlet and have it take her to his weakness. If it brings her to herself (???) then she would know he no longer wants power but really loves her and is putting her first.
But Belle is not his weakness, she’s his strength, that’s why the gauntlet led her to Rumple’s dagger – his real weakness, since he can be controlled by it – and not to her. We’ve learned that the villains see love as weakness (Rumple about the gauntlet / weakness: “and for most people, it’s the thing they love the most”) but that it is actually strength; just think of Emma protecting Snow against Cora in S2… Belle only came to that conclusion because she was hurt and angry after finding out about Rumple’s shenanigans.
As much as I have been / am angry with Rumple and his behavior towards Belle, I am still 100% sure that she is and always will be his true love.

I mean lets pretend I am a villainous witch (teehee :P) and I am trying to get the best of the dark one and find some way to hurt him. Let’s pretend he has cleaved himself from the dagger and I have the magic gauntlet to lead me to his weakness. Without the dagger, what would the gauntlet lead me to? It’d lead to Belle. She would be the only thing I could use to hurt him.
Now that I think about it, Ursula says something similar in the broadway show. She needed to find King Tritons “Achilles heel, the soft quivering underbelly beneath all that armor”, and that was Ariel. She used Ariel to (briefly) dethrone King Triton. I rambling here but I think its the same concept. What we love the most IS our weakness because it can be used against us, used to hurt us.
Even if Belle is Rumpel strength, that’d still count as a weakness. By taking her away, I take away his strength. Look at how beserk Elsa got when Anna wasn’t in the picture. I’d say Anna was Elsa’s weakness too. Taking away the person they love the most leaves them vulnerable. Idk, maybe I am just rambling…
Not gonna lie…. I would make a very effective villain T_T

The dagger is Rumple’s top weakness. If the dagger was out of the equation then Belle would be Rumple’s top weakness.
In all honesty, they could’ve just had Belle speak to Anna and achieved the same results.
All magic comes with a price!

If Belle asked, what is the thing my husband loves the most and it pointed to her — no problem. But the glove pointed to the real dagger.
I hope that’s a deleted scene by the way.

I doubt it the glove was suppose to lead to a person’s greatest weakness whom Rumple assumed was the thing they loved most. In reality a person weakness doesn’t necessarily have to be the thing a person loves most. For example for Joey the thing he loves he most his is wife, but it is his gun collection that is his greatest weakness.
