Is it me or is Once Upon a Time visiting far too many realms this year? — Sarah
Yes, the show will be jumping around between the wish realm, Storybrooke, Agrabah, and the dark realm in the back half of the season, but the frequent flyer miles that OUAT is going to rack up aren’t what you’re expecting. “The second half of the season isn’t like ‘We’re all in the wish realm, we’re all in Agrabah, we’re all in this dark realm,’” EP Adam Horowitz says. “It’s a bunch of different things as the story crescendos. We’re trying to change things up a little bit where it’s not just ‘We’re going to be in one place for half a season and just explore that.’ There’s a unifying theme at play in the second half, but it’s not about location, it’s about this story and the conflict between characters.”

This makes me think that my theory about Agrabah being in the dark realm might be right. That being said, I could be completely wrong! 😉
At least we are going to see the dark realm.
I’m interested to see how they conceptualize this. The way Rumple described it, it’s supposed to be totally bonkers but I worry that they’ll short change the audience and just give us a generic “dark jungle” like NVL

I’m betting its just going to be like the black market of the OUAT multiverse, full of all kinds of powerful, evil dark witches and terrifying creatures and stuff like that. Nothing outlandish, unfortunately. Its just a bad place. where a lot of bad people hang, protected by a lot of bad magic.

I bet season 7 villain is going to be either Dr Facilier (from Princess and the Frog) or the Sanderson Sisters (from Hocus Pocus). There isn’t that many Disney characters the show hasn’t done yet.

Haha probably. I just for once would like to live up to the hype they give when they say they are going to introduce a new realm. Not just a jungle for Neverland. Not just a weird storybrooke for the UW, or one green castle for Oz. Let’s see a realm that’s actually unique and dark. Their world building has been crap as of late. If you’re going to build up this new realm as the darkest place of all the realms, you gotta come through.
Oh and as far as Agrabah being in the dark realm, I like it a lot. I want to believe that Black Fairy and Jafar are working together to take out all the Saviors. That’s why Black Fairy is having Gideon come after Emma and that’s why Jafar was trying to convince Aladdin to give up his Savior powers. Perhaps getting rid of all the Saviors will allow the dark realm to take over all the realms. Maybe that’s going to be part of the Savior mythology they let us in on. But if Agrabah is in the dark realm, then Jafar and Black Fairy are likely working together.
I’ve got a theory. The dark realm is going to possibly be a version of Halloween town (so we’ll get OUAT’s version of a nightmare before Christmas with Jack Skellington) and also residing in the dark realm will be the Boogeyman who could possibly be the villain for Season 7.
My money is on Doctor Facilier though who plans to bring his “friends on the other side” over to Storybrooke.
