Overall, I enjoyed this episode for many of the same reasons I enjoyed watching Manhattan (which this episode felt like rehash of in some ways, what with Emma’s deja vu reunion with Lily and then Neal’s apartment). The themes of fate, destiny, and freewill are interesting. It was good to see Emma’s past catch up with her future. However, I will say the Zelena-baby fiasco is totally murky (gives “sister wives” a whole new meaning). I just hope that Zelena turns out to be lying about being pregnant. Oh, and I imagine this episode is going to be a low point for Rumbelle in that I think it’s totally over (as if it weren’t already in 4×11); but this time Rumple gave his blessing for Belle to move on with Will (not that she needed it). But Rumple’s acknowledgment that Will treated her far better than he ever could just made it seem 100% over.

When it was done, the more I thought about it, the more things I found to nitpick, which became things I want to rant about. I’ll limit it to one rant (for now, partly because I’m just full of expletives right now, so can’t really rant sufficiently on this forum)…
A major premise of this half season makes no sense. We have this event where the darkness was stolen from Emma and put into Lily. So now we see how Lily is compulsively dark, she’s a liar, she’s bad news, because that’s how she was made when the darkness got put into her. The darkness that was taken out of Emma. Yet we still see Emma having the option to go dark or light. Yet Lily apparently doesn’t have that choice. Even though it was a singular even that made each of them the way they are. Like…WUT? And it’s a concept that’s at the centre of this current storyline, and IT DOES NOT COMPUTE AND IT BUGS ME. *HEADDESKING FOREVER*

About 20 min before you wrote this, I started a new thread to discuss the whole issue of Emma having no potential to turn dark, yet there is this whole fuss about her turning dark anyway. 🙂

Keeper of Regina's bravery
April 27, 2015 at 6:38 am #302842onceaholicParticipantThis episode wasn’t too bad.
Points lost for:
-not explaining by now why Emma still has the potential to go dark when it was supposedly removed from her and placed in Lily.
-not explaining by now how Cruella ended up in FTL. I am starting to wonder if Fictional England is not another world/dimension, but is part of FTL (which has EF, Arendelle and other places).
-The Zelena-is-pregnant-by-RH storyline. Just ick. I thought this was a ”family show”? Family show does not mean family sharing the same man….and it is not the first time Zelena has done this to her family (Cora and Rumple), so yeah….
(Perhaps Emma will sacrifice herself later on to correct this one, so that Regina can have her HE?).
so 7/10 at the moment.
P.S Did Regina really steal Belle’s heart? Last week, I just assumed that Belle agreed to let her take it and control her to dupe Rumple, but she was shocked that was missing this time…
P.P.S The 6 week time jump must be for Zelena’s pregnancy, then!

It’s still left totally vague. Regina told Belle to forget everything, so she even forgot that she either gave Regina her heart willingly or that it was taken from her.

Its a shame the writers continue to drag Robin Hood’s character in the mud. He’s a victim like 3 times over, but they’ve written this story in such a way that it makes it hard for folks to sympathize with him. I feel your pain, Robin.

Thats how I read that as well. The way Belle didn’t even know why Regina would want her heart confirmed that Regina made her forget everything. Someone on Tumblr theorized that Regina did this to take all ownership away from Belle. As far as Rumple knows the “How can I help” conversation never happened.
And did anyone get get the feeling that Rumple took Will’s heart? He threatened him and the way Will stepped back when Rumple came to the shop seemed…weird to me.
April 27, 2015 at 5:02 pm #302910PriceofMagicParticipantThis episode was a bit meh for me so there isn’t really much that stands out. At least it’s better than Heart of Gold.
Liked:
The RumBelle portion- I liked that Rumple’s focus this episode seemed to be on getting Belle’s heart back rather than any other scheme. I liked that he and Will worked together for the good of Belle. I liked that Rumple put what he believes to be Belle’s happiness before his own which in turn gives me hope for a RumBelle reunion.
Lily- Agnes seems alright in the role and the flashbacks were well acted from the two young actresses. Slightly confused on young Emma and Lily’s ages. Emma’s only 16, is Lily older? Also this flashback takes place not long before Emma meets Neal.
Mixed:
Regina being the “good cop” to Emma’s “bad cop”- It kind of bugged in the way that being a full blown hero doesn’t suit Regina but the writers are trying to shoehorn her into that role whereas anti-hero would be more fitting. Then when Regina does something less than stellar, it’s not acknowledged as such, it’s just swept under the rug because Regina’s a hero now.
Disliked:
Regina’s line “I’ve just lost my leverage over Gold”- This line really bugged me because of the Belle factor. Belle is a person, an actual living, breathing, feeling person….and Regina trivialises what she actually did (stealing Belle’s heart) by reducing Belle to nothing more than “leverage”. It’s belittling to Belle. Regina acknowledges everyone else, including those she has negative history with (Rumple, Snowing, Emma, Hook), around her as people (even if she doesn’t like them) but Belle is just “leverage”. It’s almost as if Regina is singling Belle out and dare I say it, Regina’s behaviour and attitude towards Belle has shades of bullying.
Lily just taking the girl- It’s abduction! Where were the girl’s parent(s)? What if they turned up ready to collect their child whilst Lily was walking her around the block? Considering there may be children watching this, it sort of sends a bad message “Just go with the stranger who you may have seen around because they offer you free food”. It’s also a parents worse fear to have your child go missing no matter how short a time.
Zelena being pregnant- I correctly guessed this would happen so yay for that but it is so obviously just another obstacle for OQ and the implications for how it came about are rather unsavoury. At best Zelena took advantage of Robin, at worst it’s rape, but no doubt that will be skimmed over.
Robin- Robin is a bit of a plank to put it politely, a very frustrating plank. The supposed love of his life, who he cheated on his “wife” with, who did all she could to keep “Marian” alive in 4A, shows up to warn him that “Marian” was really Zelena, and he accuses her of being jealous and trying to split him and Marian up? Robin, mate, if Regina wanted to split you and Marian up, she only needed to let her die in 4A, she wouldn’t have encouraged you to be with your wife whilst you kept pursuing her despite her protests. You’ve flip flopped more times than a fish out of water and continuously hide behind your “code of honour” which you only abide by when it suits you. You finally get the chance to be with Regina guilt-free but once again you’re using your code as an excuse not to be with her. Man up and grow a pair!
All magic comes with a price!

OMG right?!?! I actually tweeted “Stranger! Danger!” last night because I was really disturbed it.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 27, 2015 at 8:47 pm #302942KebParticipantLily would have to be a couple of months older than Emma.
And this is probably around summer 1999, given that they’re going camping. Emma is about 15, but it’s still over a year before she meets Neal. (That would have been late 2000, early 2001, depending on how long they were together. She turns 18 in October 2001, and around then is when Henry is born.)
