I’ll use this thread to inform you of forum updates as I roll them out. I suggest you follow this topic for replies via email, as this thread will contain only announcements from forum staff.
[adrotate group="5"]- If you haven’t noticed, the forums are now mobile-friendly (and so is the rest of the site)!
- “Keep a log of this edit” is now disabled by default.
- Added episode title to Wonderland 1×03.
- Internet Explorer should no longer vomit a disgusting rendition of our beautiful website. (In technical terms, I’m forcing IE to adhere to web standards.)
- I wondered why we weren’t getting more new users until I discovered that the registration form has been disabled for a long time. Only social accounts could register. This is now fixed.
Coming updates
- Fixing Twitter embeds
- Fixing spoiler tag
- Adding reply-by-email feature
These updates are taking time to ensure that they work and don’t break other stuff. But I wanted you to know that these are my priorities and I’m working on them.
Big updates!
- Fixed Twitter embeds
- Improved spoiler tags. Now hover over a spoiler to reveal it.
- Fixed spoiler-wrapped images!
- Fixed quoted spoilers being weirded out.
- Added “Subscribe” feature to forums. Now you can subscribe to receive emails about new topics!
- Ads added to the forums. Yes, they can be a little annoying, but they’re helping pay the bills. Clicking on the ads pays the bills even more. 😉
- Updated the backend and some plugins
- The quotation system broke in this latest update. We just have to wait for it to be patched, but I’ve talked to the developer and this should be today or tomorrow.
- Quoting has been temporarily disabled until a plugin conflict can be resolved. Is was either quoting or the text formatting toolbar (Visual tab).
- Quoting is sort of back. To use it, switch the reply editor to the “Text” tab (in the upper-right corner of the text area), then press the Quote link as usual, then you can switch back to the “Visual” tab.
I tried to clean-up spam yesterday, and the system got hyperactive and marked more than half of our users as spammers / “sploggers,” removed posts, and removed users. So I had to revert to a backup of the forum.
Any posts between noon (EDT/GMT-4) and 8 pm (EDT/GMT-4) on May 20 have disappeared, but I’m slowing restoring what I can. I’ll update this thread as issues are resolved.
