Ok so I’m watching this episode for the fourth time and I noticed something that might be something or could be absolutely nothing. If you'd watch at 26:29, EQ is opening her father's box. Look directly to the right of Regina's head, there's a glow on–what appears to be–Graham's box. I assumed it was the sun's reflection at first but it's only on that one box, right around that center piece. I also looked at what each little medal piece said and they all say XC (which is “90” in roman numerals) and below the XC is the letter of that row, dash, box number in that row (all in roman numerals). I know that’s confusing so here’s what it looked like:
XC XC XC
F-IV F-V F-VI
XC XC XC
G-IV G-V G-VI
I don’t know if that means anything but it’s worth pondering over.March 27, 2012 at 12:51 am #139906
I think it is some sort of reflection off of that box. I don’t know what it means though.March 27, 2012 at 5:07 am #139921crabtremParticipant
I did go back to the Huntsman, and the same XC notation is used in the Evil Queens collection as the Queen of Hearts. I also noted the flower pattern in the door is the same for the door in the EQ’s castle to the heart boxes, to the door of her Father’s crypt in Storybrooke, to the structure in Wonderland belonging to the Queen of Hearts. To me Henry’s crypt looks very much like the building in Wonderland. Does the timeline account for Regina’s ability to steal or win these boxes from the Queen of Hearts? The reason I’m thinking they are the same as the Queen of Hearts is when Regina first put’s what she thinks is Snow White’s heart in the box and holds it up, at first she is surprised and questions herself that it’s supposed to open. It is then she realizes the Huntsman has tricked her. So it doesn’t look like she created the vault of hearts. I may be reading too much into it.March 27, 2012 at 5:35 am #139923goldieParticipant
Glad to see that I was not the only one wondering about the glowing box. I don’t think it would be a reflection (just by how the writers have everything down to the detail in their scenes) but I could be wrong. I am wondering how the queen of hearts came across Regina and why she had her fathers heart….March 27, 2012 at 5:48 am #139927
Watch it again. It really does seem to flicker like a reflection. I don’t know.March 27, 2012 at 4:14 pm #139975PheeParticipant
I’m really not sure on this one. If you look at the box directly above it, that one’s reflecting a lil bit of light too, which makes me think that’s all it was, just reflection of the lights they were using for the scene. But then, it’s so obvious, why wouldn’t they edit it out if it wasn’t supposed to mean something? So basically, I dunno what to think about this one.

Had been wondering how they compared, so thanks for checking it out. So either they’re the same vault, or they’re identical twins. I think at this stage I’m going with twins, just because if EQ’s vault of hearts got stolen, you’d think she’d steal the whole thing back, not just go in to retrieve her father, wouldn’t you? She can’t have control over the Huntsman (and whoever else’s hearts she’s got locked up, I kinda suspect that her top rank of knights are stashed in there too) if his heart is in Wonderland, and EQ isn’t really one to relinquish power that easily. Also, if QoH stole the vault, wouldn’t she empty out all of EQs stuff? But Graham’s heart was still in there in Storybrooke.March 27, 2012 at 4:23 pm #139976SnickerdoodleParticipant
Oh, Phee, I was supposing that somehow Regina must come back and defeat the Queen of Hearts and take her vault. I mean Queen of Hearts. Must have been hers all along and Regina takes it. Maybe they make a deal, or hurmph, maybe there are two/twin vaults as you say.March 27, 2012 at 5:49 pm #139983PheeParticipant
If Hat Trick events happened after Regina took the Huntsman’s heart, then that means she had her vault before Hat Trick.
Unless this happened sometime between when Leopold died (and Genie went into the mirror) and when she hired the Huntsman, but I don’t think so because there didn’t seem to be a big space of time between those two events. We see Leopold’s coffin at the start of Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, so if Hat Trick was pre-Huntsman, that means she went to Wonderland twice in the middle of Heart Is A Lonely Hunter, (once to get her father, and a second time to bring the vault back), which isn’t likely.
Therefore, Hat Trick had to be after the Huntsman.
So if the QoH vault is the same one Regina had, QoH had to steal it at some point after the Huntsman’s heart was stashed inside. And if the QoH vault had Regina’s hearts in it, would she really have just taken that one box with her father inside and left the rest in Wonderland? That’s what’s making me think there are two vaults.
Does that make sense? Honestly, this ep has fried my brain like no other. LOLMarch 28, 2012 at 12:38 pm #140159killianhookfanParticipant
I went back and re-watched it yesterday. I also thought it was just a reflection. Umm, no. It actually, lights up brightly – twice in fact. And there’s a bit of a sound that goes along with it. I have no idea what it means though.March 28, 2012 at 6:23 pm #140199
I still think it is a reflection. There is a similar reflection in the background of the scene where the Queen takes the huntsman’s heart. And they are probably on the same stage. I just think it is a reflection.
