What if it it is the white queen and not Glinda?

All 3 of those eps have significant Cora appearances. Curious.

Cora does have this doll to her side when she appears before Rumple when she asks for a truce in 2×12 “In the Name of the Brother.”  I’m leaning in the direction of it having some significance for Cora and Regina.

Interesting. Most of the time when Oz references are made, Regina is either making them herself or the references happen around her, like the Slippers reference in The Doctor

Probably not applicable but this doll reminds me of Clara from The Nutracker Ballet

    Observation #4
In the “Pilot” just as Grumpy is about to warn of the curse’s arrival a dragon can be seen fleeing the curse. In “The Heart of the Truest Believer” just as Robin says, “we crossed paths once..” what appears to be the same dragon makes a appearance through the window behind Robin and to the right.

    Observation #5

During the opening scene of “Quite A Common Fairy” as the we approach the ruins of Rumple’s castle passing from left to right across the screen is a small blue butterfly just before the camera brings us inside to the scene of Neal rummaging through his father’s hidden cupboard  (this is one of those you blink you miss it) This same blue butterfly can be observed in a promo that aired before the series premiered and in a season 2 promo. links to the promo clips follow (clips are time indexed for your convenience):  series trailer promo http://youtu.be/Rga4rp4j5TY?t=1m52s season 2 promo http://youtu.be/lVs3z2lGxwY?t=16s

Interesting. In The Witches of Oz, there was a wizard who gathered all the magic left in Oz and sealed it in a book. *SPOILER ALERT* He then turned himself into a butterfly, I believe to not be tempted by the books power? I could be wrong tho. Anyway, that butterfly could be a person in disguise. Baes mother? Rumpels mother?

The butterfly could just be a symbol for life. The EF was devastated by the Curse, left ravaged. The butterfly could just mean that life is returning to the EF.

Butterflies represent life but they also represent transcendence in a big way through their physical transformation. In the promos I think its interesting that Regina’s dark magic transforms into a flock of butterflies after coming into contact with Emma and a butterfly should just so happen as to pass by in front of a building containing her true love in an episode that is Regina-centric. Just some morsels to chew on before a Thanksgiving repast.

Yes I agree with all that, and I’m sure it’s a big signal for Regina this season because she is well on her way down Redemption Road. If it’s a symbol for anything outside of life and specifically for Regina, then it’s the idea of a second chance.
