My first thoughts are, as usual, mumbled and mixed but those are the things that spring into my mind:
– Well, can I just say that, if anything, I’m so glad we finally saw the brainy side of Belle! Why couldn’t we have at least glimpses of how smart she was before? (not that she didn’t come across as stupid or anything, just that wit and knowledge she has is great and should be explored further!)
– I’m also glad we’ve had an episode for Gold and seeing that he may change, although with GREAT GREAT difficulties.
– Hook yet again proved to suck at being a villain, has nobody even taught him how to fight? Even Rumple with his cane defeated him easily. It’s almost as if he wanted to die/lose. He said himself – ‘take my heart so I can be reunited with Milah’ – so he suggested the exact type of death he wanted to face and Rumple followed. Where am I going with that? Well, Belle also said ‘your heart is rotten’ to which he replied ‘you have no idea’. Maybe, apart from sarcasm, there is more to it? He’s obviously still aching from Milah’s death as we even saw in the final scene so either he wants to die because the pain is unbearable but something is stopping him from killing himself or maybe he found a way to kill Rumple by luring him into ripping his heart out – perhaps some sort of spell that would kill both of them once Rumple is crushing his heart? That’s why his heart could be rotten, from the spell? As a result, probably both of them would die, but what would Hook have once Rumple’s dead? He’s vengeance would have been accomplished but the pain would still be there. Instead, he could ‘reunite’ with Milah?
– back to Archie meeting Emma and Henry – geez, I honestly lost hope at some point that they were ever going to show it in this episode! But their reactions were a bit… flat. Yeah, Emma was shocked Archie was alive but Henry just stood there with a straight face saying “we should probably tell her” like it was just yet another thing on their thick off list – not like he was sat depressed for hours before!
And that “I knew it” coming from the boy. WHAT? You’ve just been planning on making an armoury so that you have weapons against her! And now you KNEW she was innocent all along. 😡– Snow DISAGREEING with Charming. Yes. Go Snow. YOU don’t have to be the heroes all the time, this time you fight for your happiness, for once! Charming, YOU ARE NOT A KING OR A WARRIOR, just see how happy Snow is right now! I’m glad the writers brought that in, that sense of unsettlement between them.
– So we knew the final scene, that’s a bit of a bummer, to be honest. So we know Ethan is now in Storybrooke and Belle lost her memory – kudos to people who guessed it before, explains her future despondency!
– let me just delve again on how much I liked Belle in this episode, both in present Storybrooke and in the flashbacks!
– Smee = rat. The man had it coming. He’s very attached to this hat, is he a lost boy by any chance? (sorry if I missed that somewhere)
– Philip being the monster – that’s a very nice tie in, didn’t expect it but I really like the idea. Perhaps in the future episodes it will come handy and Philip will have a chance to repay his dept to Belle somehow?
– where is Regina from the promo? Null. Zero. Nothing. Apart from the 3 seconds of the Evil Queen.
– lastly: it seemed like the number plate on that car, 2KFL 138, was significant, any thoughts?
Favourite line: Rumple: “He has to die Bell” with that “See?” slash “Mr-Obvious” gesture… 😆

Great episode, and I’m going to cry, a lotKeeper of Swanfire's dream catcher, the Blue Fairy Plot Device, the contact name "Her", the lanyards, the trigger, the Netherworld room and necklace, Charming's quote on Thanksgiving, and PP's pic of Henry
January 14, 2013 at 2:18 am #168165elleParticipantI agree with you about Henry. I thought his reactions were a bit flat–though I think that mostly goes to the actor that plays him. I have nothing against him personally, but there are times where his acting can get a little flat.
I really loved Snow white in this episode–she does her best to support Henry and Emma and Prince Charming, while also trying to build a family and a life in Storybrooke. 🙂 I understand Prince Charming wanting to go back to Fairytale Land, but he really should also think about the fact that he has a daughter and a grandson, both of whom would be endangered as well.
I’ve thought that Captain Hook was a really bad villain from the get-go. Comparing him to other villains like Cora, or former villaisn like Regina and Rumpelstiltskin…well, he really is the weakest one. He keeps getting tied up or smacked–it is really funny to see, but it also makes it difficult to see him as terrifying as the others. Although the way he got Belle to forget was a bit clever and cruel.
I really did love how smart Belle was, but I also thought that she was a little too eager–particularly her storyline in Fariytale Land. The way she approaches the cave with a dagger to kill the demon, all my herself, with no real plan was really silly.
I don’t really like Captain Hook, but I like how the actor almost makes you feel for him. When he talked about Milah, I believed him, and I actually sorta felt for him a bit, though not by much.

THIS! 😆
I’ll post a full review later tonight because I can barely speak at the moment. Just…WOW! I hope next week’s episode can top this.
January 14, 2013 at 3:01 am #168171sarah_tnParticipantGood episode. Seriously though, Hook was hit by a car….and was Belle shot? Not sure! I know she went over the line, but was she shot, grazed, or missed?
No Hook or Belle scenes for the next episode in the previews. I’ll be on pins and needles until next Sunday. Maybe that was the idea. It worked!!!
To everyone else, I agree with 😮 ! That’s exactly how I feel right now!

Yeah, I’m still not convinced he’s really a “villan”, per say. Even, after what Belle said. I think Boris from Bullwinkle was meaner than Hook is. I guess Cora is Natasha. Seriously: I’m wondering if Hook is suicidal. He wanted to die.
January 14, 2013 at 3:29 am #168180princessParticipantI agree with the panel…loved belle this week. I am ok with hook..in Peter Pan he is a bit of a bumbling villain…I mean he gets done in by a bunch of children. Hoping he went over the line in the crash….so we still get to see him
January 14, 2013 at 3:30 am #168183RumplesGirlKeymasterI can’t form a coherent thought right now cause all I can remember is “Who is Belle??” and that’s when the wailing begins again.
*sigh*
–I really hate Hook right now. Rumple did something terrible, I agree, in killing Milah. He shouldn’t have ripped out her heart. But Milah wasn’t an innocent and Belle was. And right now I hope Hook dies.
–New guy in SB. I wonder why he was driving through that part of Maine.
–Robert Carlyle is phenomenal. Even though I had issues with Rumple tonight and some of the things he did, that man is a genius on screen. Someone give him an award already.
–I really hate Hook.
–Rumple’s “He has to die Belle” after throwing down the cane-o-pain with the gesturing was actually quite funny.
–I like Snow disagreeing with Charming. They need to listen to Emma and Snow. They can’t go back yet.
–I really hate Hook.
–Emma needed a different reaction to Archie telling her it was Cora. Like…panic.
–I really hate Hook."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 14, 2013 at 3:34 am #168185bellaroseParticipantMy first thoughts were
NO BELLE LOST HER MEMORIES!!! I don’t beleive it.I’m glad Archies back and Emma knows that it was Cora that took him.
Poor Belle
Good always wins < That's just what Rumplestiltskin wants you to think Keeper of Belle's Theme Music, The Queen of Hearts Maze, Cora's Missing Heart,Tiny's Golden Harp
