I thought tonight young Regina, wearing blue and with pigtails, looked an aweful lot like Dorothy.
I have no clue about the timeline, but I still like the thought that the slippers are Ruby’s slippers.

me too. that end shot of her finally doing magic and rumple patting her on her back with zelena watching from the wizards throne room at the end of the episode. regina looked exactly like dorothy in the movie.

also, i think that the doctor happens right after this episode. rumple now knows about the slippers, sends jeffeson for them to oz but zelena already got rid of them or possibly, if the real dorothy is introduced, she took them.

Zelena as Dorothy, don’t make sense.  Dorothy like Walsh are from Kansas, my guesses are that Dorothy defeated Zelena thus taking possession of the silver slippers and prompting Zelena to the Enchanted Forest to seek a new chance.  There’s also a chance that Dorothy and Zelena haven’t met yet and it’s only Dorothy the one able to defeat Zelena just like in the book.

Looking at the scenes and Regina’s costume, Zelena travels to the Enchanted Forest right after Regina pushes Cora through the looking glass and she’s convinced to stay and learn magic.  Everything else, (The Doctor episode) happened after that but before Regina fully transformed into the Evil Queen.  Also, take in consideration that when Jefferson and Rumpleskinski talk about the slippers this was written before coming up with season 3 plot.  So I wouldn’t go for season 2 material so much for clues, although the writers will come up with a way to re conciliate those dialogues.

The Ruby slippers (along with other iconic 1939’s movie things) are copyrighted by MGM and can’t be used by Disney however, since Disney does have access to the OZ book’s original content they can use the silver slippers which are in fact as they were written.

Ah, but I never mentioned ruby slippers. I said Ruby’s slippers. I’ve wanted them to be hers from the very beginning.
