I know Rumple is the first marker on your timeline, but do you think you should put the BF on there first since she’s supposed to be the original power?
[adrotate group="5"]"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 7, 2013 at 1:21 pm #191883KebParticipantBut the BF may be infinite in age, since she’s the “original power.” Rumple at least has a beginning, and one that we can place roughly 300 yearsish somewhere. However, I just played some games with the timeline and adjusted it to Rumple being 300 when Emma comes to SB rather than 300 when the curse breaks. That still puts NL stuff at 1788 Earth time (still about a hundred years too early for the London portrayed), but whatev. Also worked out some formulae to make my calculations easier for the different ways I’m marking the years, and added an Emma Years column. And yes, that means that 1983 is 0 AC and that’s not how BC/AD work but I don’t care.

May 14, 2013 at 4:08 am #194103KebParticipantAs you probably expected if you pay any attention to me, I’ve updated my timeline to conclude Season 2.
This version has a few little tweaks–moved Cinderella’s first meeting with Rumple to the day after George gave him the info on the fairy godmother, corrected some dates that I think were slightly off (I’m pretty sure lots of them are inaccurate, but some are more accurate than I think they were), things like that.
Bigger change is that I added my episode list and my half-finished Timeline Light, in which I was attempting to focus on the most major events and now am simply attempting to sum up each episode in no more than 2-4 entries per present/fairyback section, as appropriate. It’s much less cumbersome and doesn’t have quite as much data, obviously, but may suit your purposes better than the scene-by-scene breakdown I’ve got in the regular timeline.
I might someday add in some of the other pages I’ve got in the works on my full spreadsheet. Like the deathcount page, which I find fascinating for some reason. (I’m trying to figure out who has killed more but it gets really messy when Regina or Cora decide to slay entire villages…or when half the cast is involved in the death, like with Cora.)

Pft, edit to add the URL. It’s the same but I like to add it.

May 14, 2013 at 4:13 am #194104MysteryKat25ParticipantKeb – all I can say is that I am in awe & keep up the good work!
I keep thinking about going back and focusing on stuff in the rewatches to figure stuff like that out and then my perfectionist / overwhelmed perfectionist sides come out and scream NOOOOOO cause I get halfway through something and then revamp out to do it and with big projects I kinda freak out after awhile.
Not to say I won’t attempt it at some point if I go into major withdrawal (I am planning on going through and doing a rewatch anyway…) but I’m *hoping* to just pick a couple of things to focus on and see the progression of. Not sure I could handle the mountain of spreadsheets! Or at least not if I didn’t come up with a great way to do it early on.
I am very impressed!

May 14, 2013 at 4:32 am #194109KebParticipantI keep adding to the spreadsheet. Right now I have the 1613 entries on the full timeline, though I haven’t gone through and done connections or what individual characters are doing in each entry completely…plenty of stuff to do there alone! Then I’ve got my episodes chart and I still haven’t rewatched enough to catch all the title screens (I’d like to link/shove in gifs of them. Wonder if Excel can handle that?) and then there’s Timeline Light (how the heck do you know what’s important when stuff that seems insignificant can turn out to be any time later?). And then…
Cast
Characters (I separated them because sometimes you have 2-4 people playing the same individual character and it got messy)
Deals with Rumple
Magic Rules
Curses & Spells
Henry’s book (another one where inserting images would be a +, since I’m cataloguing what images/moments are in the book)
Magical Artifacts
Deathcount
Ships
Kingdoms
Quotes
Repeated Phrases (cuz the parallels they do with echoed phrases are brilliant, but I’m still working out the best way to organize this page)
Official Clues (stuff from twitter, interviews, podcasts, etc, that seems relevant to me)
Blood Feud (back in 216 I was trying to trace who all had hurt whom in the families. It’s messy.)
Songs (a few songs I think would make awesome Once vids…)
Jailbirds (have you actually sat down and thought about how many times pretty much all the main characters have been locked up? Henry’s from a whole freakin’ jailbird family. Of course, like Belle, not all of them were justly locked up…but still! Anyway, I went and cataloged it.)
Once Foods (definitely added some entries from the thread around here)
Gold’s Collection (really haven’t put much work into this one though)
Headcanon Stuff (mostly just a page of notes. Have had to erase a few recently.)
Open Questions (a little out of date.)
In-Show Summaries of Ridiculous (this is when the show calls itself out on how silly things get, like when David and MM try to work out Henry’s family tree. Love those moments.)
Random Notes (what the label says)
Locations (I tried to distill the locations from my timeline some time ago. With some work, it could be a useful list.)
Rumbelle Dates (was trying to figure out if they’ve ever had an uninterrupted date on screen. Depends on how you define “date” though.)
Vocab List (also have been swiping entries from the list around here…but yes, our fandom has its own language. As a linguist, I’m fascinated.)
Once Princess Talents (this is an extension of another spreadsheet I did comparing the various talents and abilities displayed by the Disney Princesses…yes, I’m hopeless.)You, um, see why I haven’t published this full mess of a spreadsheet workbook?
I think I might have a problem.

May 14, 2013 at 4:50 am #194113MysteryKat25ParticipantI started trying to put together a website for all the images of stuff and cross-reference everything with links and have each:
Episode
Character
Timelines (AHHHH); categorized by land, present day, past, and then cross-referenced with each individual character and pairing
Places
Houses
Shops (especially Mr. Gold’s)
Cars
Questions raised but not yet answered
Jewelry
Clothes
Food
Magic
Relationships
Weddings
Important Quotes
Parallels
Songs (non-soundtrack) that were used in the showand I’m sure there’s a few things I’m missing (I was very ambitious when I thought of this over the winter hiatus, then I got bogged down on other stuff so never got back to it. I did however get lots of screenshots which was nice).
So many things cross-reference it becomes a logistical nightmare!
I’m amazed you have such a detailed timeline but I love it! I never can seem to pare things down to the bare necessities. I always write more than I should when really one line explains it all but with a show like this…everything is so important! Like you said, something seemingly insignificant sometimes comes back in a big way (which makes rewatches really fun and then they go and blow your mind).
Just know that you are not alone but are surrounded by Oncers who are equally obsessed whether we get it down on spreadsheets or not, but we appreciate the effort you go to in trying to keep all of this mess in a somewhat orderly fashion.
Psst: there is no good way to do it. Whatever works for you is best! 🙂

May 14, 2013 at 4:53 am #194115KebParticipantI’d considered putting cars on the character spreadsheet but I suck at identifying cars :p
and I guess it is comforting to know that my level of insanity isn’t entirely alone.
That sounds like an awesome project if you ever get it done enough. (it’ll never be done, I think…)

With the way this show is setup, we could be finding hidden meaning behind stuff for years! (You could probably get lost just in Gold’s Pawn Shop honestly, so many little things to find)
One of the reasons I love the forums and now tumblr etc is because everybody notices different things and I just got so overwhelmed trying to catalog all of it that I gave it up for a time. I was super excited earlier because people were pointing out things in Emma’s nursery and while I remember doing screenshots and studying it, I never noticed the two pedestals in her room, one that had a knight’s armor and the other a pirate hat. I was too busy noticing the unicorn mobile and the tiger doll (and the hidden mickeys which are fun to find as well).
This is the kind of show you can watch over and over again and see with new eyes every time and I love it! (Fills my Harry Potter void which had the same affect every reread).
I may try and get back to the project at some point, it’s just a matter of being able to keep up with it / organize it in a way that doesn’t drive me crazy! I do love studying random scenes though. Book titles are always fun, props etc (the prop department rocks!). I remember freaking out rewatching 1×04 after 1×05 because the creepy puppet parents were already in the shop!
I can sit here and theorize all day (and have lots of fun discussing things with everyone) but I haven’t tried to catalog it all in any form where I’d be able to look it back over and have it be in an orderly way. Hats off to anyone who is able to keep up with everything as it’s changing week-to-week!

May 15, 2013 at 12:34 pm #194557jadeParticipantIn my opinion we all miss a point: the fairy tales were known in our world in the middle ages already. So no way the events of the Enchanted Forest could have happened in the 70s of our century. The curse made the characters travel not just through space but also through time.
