There may be something to that idea of repeating cycles, but on some level we have characters growing up, giving birth, and there still has to be an order of events within the cycle of overlapping stories. It’s simpler to assume parallel time between worlds, unless we’re told about a freeze or a jump or something like that. Anything else that seems “before its time” is probably best explained by magic like prophecy or something like that.

I liked the idea used in the episode “Welcome to Storybrook” when every day in Storybrook was like the day before. The events keep repeating, but always with a slight variation.
The same concept could run for the Enchanted Forest, but not on a daily basis, but on a story basis. Just to give an exemple: let’s say the story begins with Rumple in the Ogre Wars and finishes with Snow giving birth to Emma. After that the story begins again from the start, but with variations in its path. Like a story being retold from generation to generation. The curse disrupted that cycle.
I know it’s crazy, but is how I like it. Until the writers explain their idea, this is my theory. 😆May 20, 2013 at 3:05 pm #195523KebParticipantSo Adam, lovely man, has tweeted that Bae did in fact land in our world’s real Victorian England. That means that Bae came through the portal sometime after 1858. Gah, what this does to the timeline if time is all linear between the worlds that aren’t Neverland…
One reason why I’m sticking with the slightly younger Rumple–300 as of Emma’s arrival in SB rather than the time of the curse. I’m thinking it may have to be moved even more to make things synch up properly, but whatever. Of course, if everyone’s spent time in Neverland–Rumple and Bae specifically is who I mean by everyone–then that could explain things, since time moves differently there. (and apparently faster?)

I really need them to officially tell me how old Rumple is. Because if Bae came through at the age of 14 in 1858 (at least) and it’s 2013 now…then Bae is 155 years old. And Rumple, being around 35-ish when Bae was born is about 190..

(Also the slightly contradictory “this wasn’t my first stop” statement…) So it’s canon that Neal was born a couple hundred years ago, whatever that means. (Adam himself has said that only what’s in the show is canon, though I’ll accept statements from him that don’t contradict canon as canon-enough. Of course, he’s also said that the comic and Wonderland will be canon…so…gah.)

Those two quotes are going to kill this fandom and we’ve analyzed the heck out of them. Maybe Neal was exaggerating? Maybe he doesn’t consider this his first stop since he was only here for about 7 months?

If we’re doing math by curse years, then the first day of a curse year is October 22nd or 23rd depending on how you want to count it (22nd for me). That means that it doesn’t synch up at all with American calendar dates in our world. I may be able to math out a way to make it work at some point. The software the site is using for its timeline is okay with curse years, but puts months in jan-feb-etc format. So I’m still thinking through what the best way to handle that would be.

Yeah, that’s about the only thing that makes sense (for now). As detail oriented as the creators are, they DO every now and then throw us a wrench that makes timelining virtually impossible. Of course…how much of the fandom is as obsessive as I am?

All this math. I’m looking at the wanted poster. The text is a bit blurred but March 23, 1977 could have been just the date Bae arrived back in our world after being stuck in Neverland for so long. And apparently, he came through and ended up in New Jersey.

So he arrived in 1977 at the age of 14, thus born in 1963? That would make him, right now in 2013, 50. And when he met Emma in 2001 38 to her 17/18. Hmmm. I tend to think that he arrived in our world at the age of 14 in 1991 making him 24 when he met Emma and then his DOB would be 1977 to account for him already being 14 . *this paragraph took far too much effort to figure out, btw. I hate math. *hate**
