Just noting here that I did finally update the spreadsheet version of my timeline. No major changes since I put everything into the pretty timeline up top though.

Looking for Keb. Last post on this thread was over a year ago. Is Keb still active in Timeline? Would like to share something with her about Timeline on Once Upon A Time…. Thanks

September 15, 2014 at 8:55 am #282471PheeParticipantKeb has still been updating the timeline on the site here: https://oncepodcast.com/once-upon-a-time-timeline/ She does pop in to post and chat now and then, you can PM her any time (click on her name and there’s a link to Private Message) if there’s something specific you wanna mention to her.
September 15, 2014 at 9:34 am #282477obisgirlParticipantKeb, I have a timeline question that’s been bothering me and maybe, you can help me straight out what is what.
Okay, so in the 3A winter finale, the last scene, Emma’s in Manhattan 1 year later. But I noticed when 3B arc starts, I think it was in The Tower (because that’s where Snow learned in the EF she was pregnant) the timeline in the present is 9 months later.
Now okay, I do know that’s how long it takes for a baby to grow but it seems odd that it was specifically stated in ‘Going Home’ that Emma was in New York for one year, and then there’s this nine months. Was she in New York for one year or is it nine months? I know it can’t be the same. Nine month does not equal a year.
Is it a timeline error or nothing to worry about?
September 15, 2014 at 1:59 pm #282492KebParticipantI’m suspecting that A&E have been using 9-10 months and a year pretty synonymously, to be honest.
However, while a few things in S3B don’t QUITE seem to follow the time cues that they offer, I haven’t found any true contradictions YET (with one possible exception: Belle is at Rapunzel’s welcome-home party, yet she returns to tell the Charmings about Neal and Rumple when they’re ready to announce the pregnancy. And I think there WERE captions that make that an issue, though I need to go back and check.)
They did insist constantly that it was a year that they were gone. And while I doubt Snow would know immediately that she was pregnant (don’t most women need a few weeks to figure that out?), they captioned the first announcements of her pregnancy as 9 months before the “present.”
And yes, I’m here and still working on the timeline.
But the basic pattern of things that happened in the missing year seems to be:
Our friends return to the EF (312) (a year ago)
Our friends retake the castle (313) (still a year ago)
Belle and Neal revive the Dark One (315) (captioned one year ago) (I may move this on reflection to after 314, but it seems weird to put it there for a few reasons)
Snow gets pregnant and David helps Rapunzel (314) (nine months before present)
Hook takes back the Jolly Roger instead of helping Ariel (317) (captioned as 9 months before present)
Emma meets Walsh (it’s said in 312 that they met 8 months ago)
Snow & David plan to announce the pregnancy, Zelena turns Philora into monkeys, and Belle reports on Neal & Rumple (319)
Our friends ask Rumple for help, and then Glinda. (319) (Captioned as eight months after the monkey thing)
Snow casts the curse, and Zelena spices it up; Regina uses Snow’s heart to save David. (319) (It takes a little time for the curse to take effect, and Hook has to get back to NY, but this has to be only a few days before Emma returns to Storybrooke)Keep in mind that I’m only through my timelining process up to 317, so I don’t have full notes on eps beyond that yet. I’m in the process of moving for the second time in 3 months, so things have been a little complicated in Kebland.

September 15, 2014 at 2:14 pm #282495obisgirlParticipantSo, what was happening during the first three months then in EF? Absolutely nothing.

Hi Keb
And again, you are absolutely correct! But not knowing why, can drive someone stark raving mad! Simply put, it’s more like 8 months because that’s how long, on average, each season is. Unless the storyline has completely stalled out the Timeline, which has happened in the past, Adam & Eddy are slave to a time structure they have chosen to use, since the pilot, to allow Henry to age naturally on the show, and to keep from happening to Henry, what had happened to Walt, on LOST. I’m sending you a PM. I think your ah-ha moment awaits you.

September 15, 2014 at 8:35 pm #282551KebParticipantEither regrouping, pondering about Zelena, and making LOTS of tacos…
Or those 2-3 months never actually happened. We do talk about a 9-month school year as “a year” so I can almost let A&E get away with this one. I do think at least 10 months believably happened, and obviously they didn’t do a whole lot that was worth seeing for most of Snow’s pregnancy. So…use your imagination, read some fanfics, fill it in? I dunno.

September 19, 2014 at 8:48 am #282795KebParticipantSo I have found a small issue in the timeline for S3B, one I knew was there but haven’t worked out how to resolve it.
It’s captioned One Year Ago when Belle and Neal are at the Dark Castle looking for a way to revive Rumple in 315. It’s also captioned 9 months ago when Snow tells David they’re pregnant…right before he saves Rapunzel in 314. Belle’s at the reunion ball when Rapunzel comes home. BUT, Belle comes to report what happened to Neal/Rumple with captions that suggest it’s 8 months ago, and clearly after Snow knows she’s pregnant, in 319.
I’m really not sure how to resolve this on my timeline; obviously, A&E can’t tell time (and Eddy’s recently suggested nobody should be watching as carefully as we obviously do), but there’s a definite contradiction there until 9 months = a year and the events of 315 take place after the events of 314.

September 20, 2014 at 11:30 am #282845KebParticipantSo to spite Eddy, I added a column to calculate the day of the week on my spreadsheet. Obviously, with all the fudging they do and the rough estimates that are necessary to construct the thing, there are only a few dates that I trust to be 100% accurate despite the care I’ve taken.
However, they did commit to several very particular dates.
Emma’s birth & the curse: October 22nd, 1983: Saturday. (Makes sense that Owen & his dad were camping then; score one for A&E.)
Day 1 of the curse: October 23rd, 1983: Sunday.
Emma’s return to Storybrooke: October 22nd, 2011: Also, interestingly, a Saturday. Given the mayor’s usual Saturday routine (at that time, hanging with Graham), we can see how Henry got away so easily. …though it does seem odd that Henry then is supposed to go to school on a Sunday, but hey, time’s been frozen? Cuz the 23rd is Sunday. Time doesn’t start moving again until Emma takes a hotel room that night.
Hm, the “Saturday” when she meets with Graham I currently have as a Friday by the date. Might need to adjust some things if it’s possible to do so…unless (and this is remotely possible) Emma’s birthday should really be the 23rd and people are reading yesterday’s paper in the Welcome to Storybrooke flashback.
ANYWAY: Our next and only real concrete date:
Valentine’s day 2012: Tuesday. Obviously the dates immediately surrounding it are clear in relation.
Then the timeline gets pretty tight–almost day by day from then to where we are now, save for the missing year (which might be only 9 months long)–but again, since they play fast and loose, no guarantees.
Anyway, yes, Eddy, some of us ARE wondering whether it’s Thursday.
