Is it possible that the whole 9 months ago is from the present time in Storybrooke and the 1 year ago is just a general in the last year. What if everyone had been back in Storybrooke for about a month before Emma got there? So Belle and Neal might have set off to revive Rumple after 314?

Keeper of FelixSeptember 21, 2014 at 11:00 pm #282940KebParticipantThat is possible…I need to go back to 313 or so and see how long it’s been, but it seems like they’re still puzzling out the new curse at that point–as though they’ve only been back a few days or so.
And yeah, logically Belle and Neal would have to go post 314…except that the captions explicitly say 9 months in 314 and 1 year in 315, and then 8 months in 319.
Which means, barring other really good evidence, I’m not sure what to do except chalk her appearance in 314 up to random fluke/mistake and just put stuff where the captions say.

November 7, 2014 at 9:43 am #289353RumplesGirlKeymasterA huge continuity issue was just pointed out to me in regards to 404, The Apprentice and Skin Deep
We know this is pre Skin Deep given that Anna meets Belle after this and THEN Belle meets Rumple for the first time.
Problem: open curtains
Skin Deep. After Belle has met Anna and then called Rumple and agreed to go away with him.
Problem: Curtains closed, nailed shut, “almost spring”—but in 404, we see no snow, no sign of winter, in fact it’s a lovely day as evidenced by this:
(404)
(Skin Deep)
Conclusion: the writers literally dont care about their continuity and curtains are not the best judge of time. (Also, RH was before Skin Deep)

Dangit, A&E, the curtains MATTERED.
Whatever. I just pretend they’re nailed shut in all the scenes before Robin Hood shows up and live in my own little head canon.

November 7, 2014 at 10:05 am #289358KebParticipantAlso, setting Skin Deep where it is and then everything else where it has to go relative to it–you get scenes that look like summer when it has to be winter and scenes that look like winter when it would need to be summer……………….
They really don’t care at all whether they’re entirely consistent with that. And part of it is simply the constraints of making this show–I think the curtains are an artifact of putting in the scenery after the fact with CGI, and the CGI department referring in scenes after SD to the later scenes of the SD castle. I think for S2 they significantly redesigned the place anyway. And wanted the lighting effects of open curtains.
Meanwhile, they film a lot of stuff outdoors and they’re stuck with whatever the trees/weather happen to be, more or less, when they film. Their schedule is so tight that they don’t have a lot of flexibility there. They can -make- snow if they need it, but it’s harder to erase snow that’s on the ground or change bright green summer foliage to winter status when you’re filming (doable, just harder and not worth the effort probably when they need the CGI budget for inconsistent castle interiors).

November 7, 2014 at 10:06 am #289359RumplesGirlKeymasterI’m not bothered so much by the seasonal differences–that’s just TV and I can understand that one.
But the CURTAINS. No that’s pretty unforgivable.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 7, 2014 at 10:19 am #289361KebParticipantI hated seeing them open in Zelena’s ep there. Anna’s ep at least confirmed they don’t care about the curtains one bit. Zelena’s hurt though cuz Zelena’s a jerk to Rumple 🙁

November 15, 2014 at 2:08 am #290204Sci-Fi GirlParticipantSo, I know you haven’t started adding season 4 events to the timeline, and there are details left to be revealed. But some folks at my other forum are trying to piece together how the Frozen storyline matches up with previously established events. As you have spent a lot more time scrutinizing the timeline, maybe you can help?
They have given us a number of specific time references, that seem to contradict:
Belle’s & Anna’s timeline: Right after Anna left Rumple, she met Belle. They met Belle in Rumple’s castle. And based on Rumple’s comment surprise about “falling for the help”, it seems Belle hasn’t been there long. But when Emma and Hook left, Urned Elsa was already in the basement. This would seem to leave very little time between Anna’s capture in Arendelle, and Urned Elsa being placed in the basement.
Then there is Charming’s timeline: When Anna leaves him, he is still a shepherd. But by the time Emma time travels, he has already been recruited by King George, slayed the dragon, agreed to marry Kathrine, and is about to meet Snow. So, how much time elapsed over those events?
All these things are getting tied together this season, and I’m not sure it all fits. 🙄
Here is the thread at the other forum, and I will also post a link there to your timeline, and this thread. 😎
Also, some good questions were raised there about Marion, and Roland, and time travel. Namely: Belle and Rumple met Robin and a pregnant Marion, but by time travel day Marion was already in prison set to be executed. I just looked at your timeline, and it looks like there is about 40 days between pregnant Marion, and Charming/Snow/carriage day when Emma saved Marion.
So, Roland had to have been born within those 40 days? *headdesk*
My brain hurts! (And now I want Regina to say “Time travel gives everyone a headache!” 😆 )

November 15, 2014 at 9:12 am #290213KebParticipantI’m convinced A&E’s timeline is mostly a list of events, and they’re not as concerned with the spacing of those events as they should be. Presently, I think they’re picturing Belle’s time in the Dark Castle (around which just about everything seems to flow–maybe it’s just because -I- am so focused on Belle, but seriously–that’s where my best timeline clues come from) as more like four months than two (an estimate based on her “I’ve had a couple of months to look around” comment.
So, yes, we have Anna visiting young David, but it could only be a few months before he becomes James at most.
Marian’s execution does seem to be while Roland is a newborn, though when we see her pregnant Belle’s been at the Dark Castle two weeks tops. (I estimate about five days–long enough for Rumple’s night after night comment, but not so long that she’s content there yet.)
Adam did say on Twitter that Roland’s “Mom?” was more of a question than a recognition.
Keep in mind they did say that between Arendelle & Misthaven (the EF) is a two-week journey. That means that it must have taken Belle at least two weeks to get there and back (though Anna’s journey could easily coincide with the first half, and she took the shortcut back). So after Belle let Anna fall into the hands of the Snow Queen, there is at least another week before she goes to the Dark Castle. On my timeline, unless shown otherwise, I’ll probably give it another week before her father consents to summoning Rumple and he actually shows up; things were quite dire at the beginning of Skin Deep but Belle didn’t even notice on her way home.
So I’m thinking the events of the Frozen timeline are taking place over the course of two weeks to a month at most, half of which happens before Belle goes to the Dark Castle. That easily has Rumple in possession of Urned Elsa by the time Snow Drifts.
