And I totally think he’s peeking at his new acquisition in the mirror while he’s talking to Regina. Matches up nicely with the Disney version.

To make sure she hadn’t run away or because he misses her?
But I agree, that mirror looked VERY much like the Disney mirror."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 29, 2013 at 8:14 pm #189757MatthewPaulModerator@RumplesGirl wrote:

Updated to include events of 220: The Evil Queen.
As for the intense debate re the Curtain Incident, I have chosen to place things thusly for the time being:
1. Belle comes to the Dark Castle, gets locked in the dungeon.
2. Regina orders the slaughter of the villagers.
3. Regina summons Rumple to her castle, and they make their deal. It’s the same night. Headcanon that Rumple is both checking his own appearance and checking up on Belle in the dungeon. (He’s also in the same outfit as earlier that day, which helps the case for this sequence.)
4. Next morning, Regina checks out her local townspeople and gets rescued by Snow.
5. That afternoon she wakes up in the forest. Two more days must pass for her to heal.
6. Next day: Curtain scene. Belle’s been with Rumple two days–long enough to observe some stuff. He’s in a gold vest. And she’s in the blue dress (dangit dangit dangit).
7. Next day: Regina’s healed. She and Snow run and come across the hill of bodies.
8. Late that night: Regina demands that Rumple remove his spell, and he makes the maid comment. (he’s in the red vest.)
9. Next night: Robin Hood robs the place. (He’s in the leather vest here, which is also what he’s wearing when he leaves while the aprons are drying.)
10. Rest of Lacey events.
11. Rest of Skin Deep events.Keeper of Belle's Gold magic, sand dollar, cloaks, purple FTL outfit, spell scroll, library key, copy of Romeo and Juliet, and cry-muffling pillow, Rumple's doll, overcoat, and strength, and The Timeline. April 29, 2013 at 9:42 pm #189801thelonebamfParticipantDoes # 11 include the chipped cup scene?
I just reviewed Skin Deep, Lacey, and Evil Queen- and the establishing shots are a little goofy.
As much sense as it makes for him to be describing her duties right when she gets there- I don’t know that he did.During the pillow scene we have an establishing shot of the castle in the summer (or spring, but probably summer). Right before the teacup scene we have a shot of the castle in winter.
It’s possible that Belle was just stuck in the dungeon for a while before Rumplestiltskin decided “what to do with her” and actually gave her a job description. (This sort of goes with my theory that taking Belle as payment was a snap judgment of his as an effort to exact the highest possible cost from Maurice.)
It’s definitely not winter when they go looking for Robin Hood, the forest (while on foot) looks very similar to the way it does during the events of Evil Queen. And if we all agree that the pillow scene is right when Belle arrives then it doesn’t make sense that she’s saying “it’s almost spring” when it is full on green outside as in the establishing shot of the castle.
Just to, y’know. Make things more fun for everyone. ^_^7

April 29, 2013 at 9:49 pm #189803RumplesGirlKeymasterI was seriously going to let this go. I was going to walk away because in the larger scheme of things it doesn’t matter and you’re doing such a great job with the timeline that I could just live with it. But I think BAMF raises some good points and I think a lot of the issues we’re having have to do with when they shoot the episodes.
Belle clearly comes to the castle when it’s winter. Snow on the mountain, ect.
She opens the curtain because it’s spring and then the during the “Gaston/love is layered” scene it has been a few months since Belle arrived and now it’s spring and he’s been persuaded to keep the curtains open.
It’s not winter when they go to look for Robin, but I think it’s very early spring. But again, this has a lot to do with that fact that they were shooting this episode in March and they shot Skin Deep in January (because it aired in Feb).
So I think the curtain scene and the forest scene happen close to each other. But given her attire, it makes more sense for curtain scene to have happened second.I just listened to the official podcast, no mention of timeline events to set us all straight.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 29, 2013 at 9:59 pm #189805KebParticipantShe opens the windows because “it’s almost spring.” It’s still really cold when they go Robin hunting–they’re both quite wrapped up in their cloaks, and sharing a blanket in the carriage. It’s not always snowy in winter, but yeah, the establishing shots are troublesome. If she’s been crying over missing her family every night, though, Rumple can’t have put up with it for very long. (And a week of thaw is enough time for a snowscape to go green in the winter, given that you have many evergreens around.) It’s certainly spring by the time Regina encounters Belle on the road–she’s wearing her cloak open and the mud on the ground isn’t frozen.
And it’s okay not to let it go, RG, really. I’m trying to get it as right as possible. It’s never going to be perfect–either because they mess up in places or because they don’t release enough data to get it that way. Every bit of evidence helps.

Ok, point nicely given. Though, RC and EdR were on a green screen for Skin Deep and actually outside in Vancouver (which apparently is really cold) in Feb/March so that could be the explanation for trying to keep the actors warm while still establishing that it was late winter/early spring.
It would be super helpful if we could learn when she got the blue dress. If she gets the dress right after the library scene in Lacey, then the curtain scene happens probably RIGHT after. But if she gets the dress before Robin-hunting…"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 29, 2013 at 10:09 pm #189807KebParticipantI hate podcasts cuz I have a hearing loss and so they’re harder for me than written data (captioning is the best thing ever), but here’s what Adam and Eddy say that I think supports having the curtain before Robin Hood:
“For us, when we did Skin Deep last year, you know, you only have a certain amount of time in an episode, and for us, the real inspiration for this episode was, what were the first moments that Belle really started to look at him? You know. Of course when she fell off the drapes and they looked at each other, but for us, this was the moment where she realized he was more than a beast. And that was what this little slice was.” This is about 11:38 in the podcast for 219.
It doesn’t directly say which happened first, but…it just feels like the curtains happened first here to me.

April 29, 2013 at 10:11 pm #189808KebParticipantYeah, the dress is my biggest hangup about this order of events, actually. But Rumple’s a dang fashionista and he totally could provide her another dress at any point–which might or might not require washing at some point. I bet he likes her in the gold dress anyway.
