Hey Ranisha!! Long time no see! 😀
Okay, So I just finished literally a minute ago. A few random thoughts since its late:
– Its interesting…. I didn’t hate it, but it also wasn’t, ya know, the best thing since the chocolate chip cookie. I am definitely going to continue though. I like it.
– Yeah, the guy who played Scarecrow should speak up a bit. Not quite sure how I’m feeling about him just yet. I really hope their relationship doesn’t turn out to be as cliché as these first two episodes are having me to believe.
– Does anyone else think Dorothy looks like Halle Berry? Is it just me?
– I love the witches. All of em! Dear god I love em all. Glinda is so obvisouly shady. West witch (Does she have a name?) is cool, and i hope east witch isn’t dead for good.
– The actress who played Petunia Dursley is once again playing a witch. (She was a witch on TrueBlood and now here she plays Mombi) Is this going to be like an ironic casting thing from now on with her? Lol.
– There are things I’m very confused about with the story but I’m guessing I will have more answers as it goes on. Can someone explain something to me… So prisoners in the prison of abject were put there by the witch of the east, right? But didn’t the munchkin guy say she was the only person who could get them out? I’m very confused about how the witches are perceived in this world. Do the people see them as good or evil? Also, before the witch of the east shot herself (loved that scene) were Dorothy and Scarecrow really in the mud prison thing? Or…no?
Anyway, yeah, i like it. I will continue with it. Its definitely a unique spin on Oz and i cant wait to see more of this world.

I guess part of it could be that I’ve taken the time to absorb the first two episodes and understand the show more. Could also be that premiere crammed so much exposition down our throats to introduce us to what the show is about, while this is a standard episode with enough time to breath. Episode 2 last week was also better than episode 1, after all. Still not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I’m definitely intrigued enough to want to watch the full Season as it airs.
The highlight of the episode for me was Tip’s storyline. Not only is it hard enough coming to terms with her sudden magical sex change, but she’s in such disbelief when it’s revealed that she was originally born this way all along. How would anyone comprehend that? It also must have been so surreal for her when Jack suddenly tried to kiss her, considering she viewed him as a close friend and once believed to be the same gender. Tragic that the freaking out accidentally caused Jack’s death. So now she has an inner-conflict over both her sexuality and how to cope with killing her best friend.
January 14, 2017 at 10:57 am #332630AKAParticipantThis week was much better than last. The pace was slower, the characters were more developed, and the visuals are really outstanding. I was skeptical with this show but I am definitely going to watch the season. Last week for me at least, was a slow moving confusing mess and I only marginally cared about any of the characters. This week it was almost a 180 degree turnaround.
Liked:
The parallel between Dorothy and Tip. They both found out this episode that who they thought they were was completely wrong. Tip’s pain and anguish of dealing with this was well played out and I actually felt her pain completely. Dorothy finding out her mother was at some point and time in OZ and that maybe she has a purpose for being here was also well played out.
I liked Lucas much better in this episode. He was easier to understand and I felt his struggle of knowing who he is on the inside even if he does not have his memories.
I loved the speech the Wizard of Oz gave about how our past and our parent’s pasts do not define who we are. We are in control of our destiny as long as we are willing to fight for it and I like that parallel to Lucas’s current struggles of identity.
The visuals are stunning and well done. Dorothy’s red dress was WOW! I also loved the visuals of the palace
Dislike:
Only dislike is the Witch of the West. Maybe it is my hang up on any kind of drug usage, but I find her drug induced character boring and kind of flat.
January 21, 2017 at 11:36 am #332723RumplesGirlKeymasterSo episode 4?
–Mostly pretty good. I think at this stage I’m far more interested in the political machinations and mythology building being done in this version of Oz (so, the Wizard, the Beast, the Witches) than I am about anything concerning Dorothy. I know the two must eventually intersect but I tend to get a bit weary of Dorothy when she’s on screen.
–Dorothy and the Scarecrow kissed. You could see it coming a mile away and I’m not entirely sure it wasn’t too soon but since it’s a limited series, I guess I gotta let it stand.
–The visuals on this show continue to be outstanding.
–“So you’re telling me that my only choice as a girl is as a nun or a whore?” That’s one of the best lines I’ve ever heard. Honest to god, I want that on a t-shirt.
–Glad Jack is alive; turning him into the Tin Man is…weird but I’ll go with it. Who’s the Princess? Help me out, Oz-lore people!

Princess Langwidere was in Ozma of Oz, the third book. She is known for her face-swapping. She captured Dorothy and tried to take her head, but Ozma saved her (and that’s how they met, in the books). She was combined with Mombi for Return to Oz.

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 26, 2017 at 3:00 pm #332836hjbauParticipantI just watched the fourth episode and i am still thinking this show is just really really slow. They are still primarily world building and it is four episodes in. I think i am going to wait until the rest of the season airs before i watch anymore of it. I just don’t care about the characters at all. Not even one of them is all that likeable and most of them are just down right boring. There are too many point of view characters a well. It’s unfortunate because i want to like it.
