Not exactly. I’m wondering if Flynn is Lucy’s son from an alternate future, and that the big changes he’s making to history are just incidental to his real goal of getting his parents togethe
So, more like Terminator meets Return to the Future? There seems to be a connection between Lucy and Flynn, but now that I think about it, I wonder if it’s quite as straight forward as direct kinship — that seems fairly predictable. Perhaps he is a former student? Flynn has two stated drives so far: “They [whoever they are] killed my family” and “I want to save America.” And we’re led to believe that future Lucy is the one who sets him on this path.October 12, 2016 at 9:32 am #328590
And we’re led to believe that future Lucy is the one who sets him on this path.
This brings up a potentially interesting paradox. Thus far, Flynn has told Lucy to back off, but thus far he hasn’t outright tried to kill her, something I find bizarre given that 1) he’s basically a criminal and she’s the detective hunting him down and 2) he clearly has no problems with the idea of killing to achieve his ends.
But if Lucy put Flynn on his path–either as a mentor or a mother–then Flynn from a time travel point of view can’t hurt her unless he erase his own history, right? Time travel gets weird because some sci-fi shows will claim that whatever happened, happened so Flynn’s own memories and experiences wouldn’t be erased (similar to Lucy actually) but it’s an idea they could play with."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 12, 2016 at 10:10 am #328591

Yes, so the show seems to suggest that even if the timeline changes as a result of your actions, your own experience stays unaltered (so for example, Lucy keeps the locket with her sister’s picture, and doesn’t remember having a fiance). But for some reason all the other characters take the historical changes for granted. I guess if you’re the one traveling, you are somehow exempt from the changes that you create, but that makes very little sense.
I also think it’s interesting that, so far, they’re not going with the idea that history “self-corrects,” which is one of the ways in which time travel is sometimes dealt with.October 13, 2016 at 1:13 pm #328655
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A PODCAST ON TIMELESS ….
iTUNES has two shows …. DVMPE and AfterBuzz both have a show … do not have web links yet but when I find them I will post.
RUMPLEGIRL there was some discussion about the effects of time travel on those that travel … i.e. remembering the first life unaffected by what changes they made history.

–The costumes are on point
–Whatever/whoever Rittenhouse is, I suspect they are the true baddies, especially if whatever they did/do/are going to do is bad enough to make a principled man like Rufus’s colleague team up with a man he clearly doesn’t always agree with. I think the show is going to make Flynn an incredibly grey antihero (cause I don’t have enough of those in my TV life!)
–So Lucy broke up with the fiancee. If Flynn is her son (seems like a popular theory?) then who is the father? Will they get back together? Is this the “better” story for Lucy? Who decides? Lucy? The Universe? Circumstance?
–Was Jennifer destined to die so history course corrected after Wyatt sent that note or did Jennifer just not listen to it? Can we be sure she got it? Why does she HAVE to die if the universe is dictating this sort of stuff?

– Welp, these guys handle a plutonium core with as much deference and carefulness as a pot roast.
– Lucy’s fiance seems… unbelievably understanding. Is it possible that there is more to this set up than one might expect? I am vaguely reminded of the Blacklist for some reason.
– So Rittenhous sounds like the behind the scenes conspiracy/bad guys pulling the strings, but is that what it is? That seems almost a bit predictable — whether it’s some sort of secret society or an evil corporation, I wonder if this is really where the show would go.
– I wonder how they’re going to pull the different strands together — is Flynn trying to “scaffold” some sort of event, such that each piece of the puzzle is needed (each trip back builds towards a bigger picture), or is what he’s doing more opportunistic? I.e., he goes back in time, tinkers, comes back, checks google if the desired effect was achieved, finds out it’s not, and then wash rinse repeat again?October 18, 2016 at 6:46 pm #328938

Matt Lanter voices Anakin Skywalker, so…
Yes after this last episode it does seem like the show might go down the romantic path for Lucy and Wyatt."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"October 18, 2016 at 7:45 pm #328943

It would give Matt a chance to say that line, maybe as an exclamation of surprise when Wyatt finds out who Flynn is.
On the serious side of things, what’s the plutonium for? Power source? (They did mention Back to the Future this episode.) Explosive? (After 50 years, would it still be pure enough for that?) Chemical or radiological weapon? (Nahh, too ordinary a result for such a complicated criminal plot.) I’m guessing they need to sign an action in the pre-atomic era, to prove they were responsible, using an element that doesn’t occur in nature in more than the tiniest trace quantities.
