I often wonder if I am the ONLY person out there who really doesn’t care for Charming’s SB counterpart David Nolan.

In SB David seems so weak, wish washy and lost. I do not find him to be interesting nor a suitable match for MM. I hope they transform his character and give him more pizazz and a backbone somehow.

I’m sure there will be TONS of people who will disagree with me. However, I am looking for the brave ones willing to step forth and also claim… “I just don’t care for David Nolan.”

Dude, you are so not alone. I like Prince Charming, but his Storybrooke counterpart is…lacking. Hopefully, he’ll catch up with his fairytale counterpart, but right now…ugh. And don’t even get me started on the recent spoilers about him.

I don’t like him that much either. But I feel bad about it though. I feel like we’re supposed to like David. He’s Prince Charming! We’re supposed to root for him, but his Storybrooke persona makes it difficult. 🙁

If he were a regular guy on any other show, I wouldn’t care for him in the least. But we’ve got the curse to consider here, so I give him some leeway and believe that he’ll prove himself eventually.

Kitsis and Horowitz talk about his shortcomings a bit in this youtube starting at about 5:15:

David is…*Sigh*…David is, bless his heart, a doof. 😆 And on top of that, he’s a little naive. I know it’s because of the curse, but it still irks me. Mary Margaret ahs more courage than him for God’s sake.

But then again, I’m not sure how valid my opinion is, given the fact that I tend to gravitate towards the villains on the show. 😆

I don’t hate David, but I do find him kind of bland. Which sucks because everyone else on the show is so interesting. Rumpel, Regina, Snow, Emma, August. Everyone else seems to be incredibly complex and interesting except David. Even Prince Charming can be a bit nausiating.

I sort of see David as a brain damaged person. He can’t help it. Though his scenes where he is a complete idiot are absolutely exhausting to watch. He so puts his foot in it.

Who doesn’t like David? 😆 😆 I read on a separate forum that you’re really not supposed to like him because his real character is supposed to be the exact opposite of his fairytale character. so it’s okay to hate him.

Ha! So, yeah, there’s a reason I am the Keeper of David’s Low IQ. Although I am hopeful that I will be able to retire that possession when he remembers his FTL counterpart. The guy drives me freaking insane. I’ve never seen someone make such ridiculous decisions before. Granted, I know we are supposed to feel like he is a complete dork – I think they are also trying to make some kind of commentary on the fact that there is no such thing as Prince Charming in the real world. However, I think they have succeeded in creating the poster boy for clueless, and he is a perfect example of why one should “Think before you speak.”

Just thinking of the line in “Into the Woods” where, after leaving his latest conquest, the prince says, “I was raised to be charming, not sincere.” Poor Mary Margaret is inexplicably in love with a guy is just sort of an empty space walking around in her prince’s form.
